I need help! I want to learn the very basics of soap making for my own family and for giving as gifts. My question is, where do I start? What very basic tools and ingredients do I need? How much does a simple bar of soap tend to cost the maker? Is anyone willing to "take me under their wing" and teach me the trade? Thanks! -Elizabeth
I used to make goats milk soap and there are tons of sites on the web to get you started. I also bought books-- I can't recall the authors name but they are very easy to find. I loved making soap. Just follow the directions carefully and take it slow at first until you get used to working with the lye. Once you do it a few times it goes faster and is not difficult at all.
