Coming from a family of humbugging Grinches, I wonder at times where I got my love of Christmas. But I always have loved the spirit of the holiday even if I had it all wrong as to how to best enjoy it. I used to make huge many page planning lists and have to have every little thing as elaborate and lavish as I could possibly afford it, only to end up too frazzled to really enjoy it. Then one Christmas not so long ago, it struck me that the "Spirit of Christmas" wasn't in the best gift or sheer volume of them, nor was it in the weeks of mental anxiety over the perfect Christmas that I'd always thought it was...it is alive in a smile, a simple courtesy, a humble plate of sweets shared with a neighbor...the more simple and less stressful it's become, the more the "Spirit" is alive and well. I've learned my lesson on lavish...leave the perfect gift and the stress on the door stoop and come in with a glad smile and the Spirit of Christmas is there waiting with arms open wide.

Anyone else an ex-over-doer?
Just thought I'd share my folly

Wishing you joy in small things and peace in your heart

Annika! I think you Stated it Perfectly! I love having lot of Christmasy stuff up, but it really isn't about the decorations at all! It's about having fun with a season meant to celebrate joy! *hugs* You are so special! I love how you find the perfect way to express things!
