i'll start with one that a friend of wednesday's made for lucas and sofia. adorable 'hooded' bath towels ... they sewed to large (and VERY soft towels together ((long sides) to make it 'wide' .. then they took two 'co-ordinating hand-towels and sewed them together to make a 'hood' and attached it to the 'middle' of the two large towels at the seam. they used fun 'colorful' youth towels. i have bought the really cute 'frog' .. and 'dog' ones with the 'animal heads' as the hoods at pottery barn .. both kinds are really cute.

VERY SOFT and WARM 'blankies' ... gosh .. these were soooooooo quick and easy to make: i saw them at a local quilt shoppe in kentucky. (got 'bob the builder' thick fleece fabric for lucas .. and soft, gentle 'pooh' characters for sofia ... just get as long a length as you like .. and cut a two inch fringe .. then cut THAT up the middle to make two ONE inch fringes. hen cut a THREE inch fringe next to it .. continue all the way across the fabric .... then TIE the one inch pieces that are side by side (leaving the three inch strip to dangle. you can just do the 'top' and 'bottom' of the quilt .. or you can do all four sides.

you can also bind it with a strip of the same fabric (or coordinating) instead of the fringe. i brought the kids' 'blankies' up with me on this last trip ... they snuggle with them every night .. and lucas' uses his to cover up when watching a video.

what are YOUR quick and easy hand-did ideas?

well i like to put about a cup of wonderful lavender inside cheesecloth (tie, this keeps mess down) and place the "ball" inside a pretty hankie, wrap around ball and tie with ribbon or string. these smell wonderful and have sooooo many uses!

Frannie-
I just got this idea from Julia Hayes who sent us the most darling cloth napkins! What a special treat for us as all of ours are WORN-

To make cloth napkins- these are simple and inexpensive to make (I just cut a square at least 14 inches per side (or smaller for little ones) and hem around. You should get four per yard!
I just made family sets to sell on my etsy store with adult and kids napkins for Christmas Breakfast and I will send the sets to family far away with some cocoa and maybe coffee cake ingredients.
Warmly, Rebekka

Rebekkah .. guess what .. everytime i have a 'theme' party .. i buy fabric in a 'theme/color' etc .. and 'rip/tear' them into squares for napkins .. gosh .. i don't even HEM them .. just give them a nice ironing ... (pull any stray threads) .. they are GREAT for a one-time use .. (and even more if they are a more 'primitive' theme!) THEN .. i use all those little squares to use in other projects .. they make great little 'seed' bags.

A friend of mine has come up with a wonderful idea called a Journal Jar. The beautifully decorated jar contains 100 questions to spur memories and help with journaling. My husband & I thought it would be a lovely gift for his mother. Then we can spend time with her and write down her memories and stories so we can know her life story better.

Make your own or if you're short on time, you can order a really nice jar from Dani that already contains 100 questions at her web-site: http://www.ezshoppes.com/shoppe/default.asp?sid=ChinaLakeShoppe&offset=10
