Finally a site that I can relate to! Farm girl since birth and just one of those things that you can't get out of your heart.

I grew up on a peanut farm and now am raising three boys on a wheat/cattle farm. Married to my first husband for almost 26 years and am probably at the happiest point in my life.

Have my teaching certificate (jobs are hard to find out here), and am currently working for the USDA. I've also owned/operated a restaurant--never again.

I also sew/quilt/garden in my spare time. We raise Red Angus cattle and hard red winter wheat. I only have two boys(14 & 19) at home right now and also have a DIL who is wonderful.

Am looking forward reading about other farm gals. We're a rare breed!

Saska

Welcome to another Okie -- even if you're on the other side of the state!

I'm pretty quiet these days; trying to re-establish my life in small town Oklahoma after nine years in Tulsa (and 12 years in Texas before that!). But I try to catch up periodically.

Hope you enjoy it here,

Hi Okie!

I am in Midwest City,OK right now. I don't think we're getting a farm yet, but we are working on getting a house with a large yard within the next year. IS your wheat for making bread? I thought I read that your type of wheat makes very hearty, nutritious bread.
Welcome to the boards from a fellow Okie (transplanted from Illinois).
