I wanted to make a fancy little purse for my mom for a gift, and that part's no biggee..but the embellishment calls for rosettes and the pattern seems weird to me--does anyone have any really easy rosette method? I'm going to fill in the center with vintage buttons and also make some out of silk ribbon...

Help is appreciated!

can you knit a section oh about 12 inches long by about 1-2 inch wide, then gather it into a rosette like you would do with lace ?(running stitch to gather the knitted section, then pull up thread and create a rosette) but just knitted section, like knitted lace/larger stitches so it looks more "airy"?would that work?

That's kindof what I was thinking, Tina--seems like I could do the same as if I was making it out of ribbon or lace....this pattern kept asking for wrapping at the end and I don't know what that means....Obviously, I'm on a time crunch with Christmas coming and I don't want to learn new tricks right now :)

I'm not positive what you are referring to, but if it's a little round thing with ruffly petals coming out on one side, crochet seems to be probably more effective...maybe...
