This morning on Good Morning America there was a thing about the danger of getting cancer from having CT scans (I had one on Tuesday) my son was so upset and worried that I was going to get cancer now from having that. Jeesh. I wish we didn't HAVE tv sometimes. It was a neccessary thing for me ..a follow up to one I had 6 months ago to check on a nodule in my lung to see that there isn't any growth. But I hate for my kids to see stuff like that. We had to have a big talk before school about how things like that don't happen to everyone and that it would be way worse to not have this or whatever problem checked if it were something big..which it WON'T be...but still. Hard to explain to a 10 year old though.

I saw some coverage about CTs as well. Your son is fortunate that you took time to explain and sooth his fears. Nothing like comforting from Mom! It made me a little frightened, too, since my little boy has already had 4 brain scans and he is only 10. I just can't think too much about it. But, you're right, sounds like your test was a necessity and it is a good thing that you had it done.
Have you gotten your results yet? Hope & pray everything turns out just great.
Blessings, Lea

There was an article in our local newspaper about this topic today. I have had this feelihng for a long time.....I just got done having a conversation with my hubby about it, too. I say, if you do not have to have radiation shot into your body, do not do it.
Jenny, for you it was a good thing. But I must admit, I do not have a mammogram every year. When I see the technician run out of the room, I think why am I doing this??? I believe radiation can trigger problems sometimes.
I am sure this will cause an outcry, and I can see why. Preventive medicine is a great thing. But, my instincts say leave the body alone sometimes. When I get dental x-rays, I look at that big metal blanket they lay over me, and think, what am I doing????????
We eat organic, we avoid chemicals, why should we not be careful of radiation?

I can sure understand this 0ne. Aunt Jenny, that y0u even explained t0 y0ur kids is exeplary, many d0n't because they are afraid 0f scaring their children. It is such a fine line t0 walk, learning t0 say h0w much and what is appr0priate f0r them. I have had t0 have quite a few xrays thr0ugh my life. I d0 take the mamm0gram because there is cancer in my family. It all just makes y0u w0nder. I guess this is the c0nsulati0n f0r me, G0d kn0ws the numbers 0f my days peri0d. If I f0ll0wed every "cancer scare" I w0uld drive myself nuts. F0r me, I ch00se t0 keep taking it 0ne day at a time. Car0l Sue
