I am just curious. What type of internet connection do you have?
Dial Up? Cable Modem? Broadpoint Wi-Fi (Like a campus)? DSL Other?

Dial up. We tried to get cable but we live out where it doesn't reach! Actually we are 1 1/2 miles from the last connection and they told us if we wanted to drop a check in the mail for 20,000 dollars, and that's not a typo, they would be happy to run it out here. We figured why pay that much so the houses between there and here could hook in and not pay other than the monthly service. Plus, for that price we should get free service. Ha, yeah right. What was amazing was that someone out in the other direction actually paid it! Oh and then phone company wanted to hook us up for DSL but found that is not avaiable here either. Oh well I'd rather have the country and deal with dial up than have to move closer to the city.

I have DSL service. I'm waiting for the development where I live to get Fios (fiber optics). Can't wait!

Upgraded from dial up to DSL earlier this year when it became available...what a difference, especially since I telecommute at least one day a week...

Dial-up. I could get satellite, but we don't particularly want satellite tv.

I think it is DSL...it is through our local telephone company (which is also the cable company and internet provider here in our tiny town) We had dial up for a long time..this is sure better.

We have satellite. I got tired of connecting speeds of 9600 with our dial up. It took hours to download site. We are on the oldest phone line out this way and some of the sites wouldn't load because the line could not carry their signal.
Peanut, I don't think you have to get satellite tv at the same time, ours is on it's own dish and it is billed separetly.

Dial up. I suppose I could stop being cheap and go DSL.
Maybe after the holidays.

I love my high speed internet, but I remember the days of dial up. I remember when internet first came out and you could go and get a cup of coffee, come back and one pixel line of a picture was all that had loaded. LOL

Alee, that sounds like me now! I multitask while waiting for pages to load. I tidy or wash dishes.

Think I may have to bite the bullet and go with satellite. High speed all around us and not on this street. Aggravating to no end. Half the time, I can't even access any websites, so will be glad to tell AOL goodbye for good! Ronna |
