At least that is what my country cousins called me.
I grew up in the city but my favorite place to be was my aunt's place with the big garden next to the goat farm. I learned to shell purple hulls, can green beans and sew.
Mom and Dad grew up in the country. My dad missed it. We got a couple of horses and I was in heaven.
I am still in the city but a country girl at heart.

Welcome Denise! I am the opposite, I grew up and thought I was a city girl for the longest time. Then we bought a farm and all that changed. I thought my cousins were going to keel over when they saw me out in 20 below weather chopping wood and making warm yummy gruel for the animals. Farmgirl hugs to you!

Welcome Dennise! I am also new to the group and have three sons. We are a bit outnumbered in that area, aren't we? That will make this group extra special!
I lived many years in a garden aparment in the city. The windows were at ground level. Even then, I was a farmgirl at heart and planted red geraniums at every window. I still remember the joy those blooms brought me every time I pulled back the curtain! Farmgirls are farmgirls no matter where they lay their heads at night!
Beverly I'm going to stop in at your blog and see those fainting goats. I just can't imagine. I'd never get anything done because I would be laughing all the time!
Blessings, Lea

You have that right Lea. I tell people that is why both of my dogs are girls. A friend of mine is having a girl this spring, I plan on 'borrowing' her from time to time.

Welcome Dennise! I have been to and through Baton Rouge a gazillion times. I grew up in New Iberia and also lived in New Orleans for about 5 years. I could make that trip across the causeway with a blindfold.
Funny story.....I was about 19 yrs old (20 years ago) and I drove a red sports car with a stick shift and I drove it like a race car. I came off the causeway doing about 110 miles and got caught! I knew the cops wait at the end of the bridge and I would usually slow down before the end. This time I was in "la la land" and forgot. That cop pulled me over so fast and screamed at me....not so much for getting a ticket but about the danger I was putting myself in. He really railed into me. He gave me a ticket for going 80 miles instead of the 110 and made me swear to "grow up" and drive properly.
I did. I really don't speed....I go the speed limit. But, I've gotten a few tickets for running red lights, though!! HA HA
I look forward to getting to know you.
Blessings Catherine

I lived in Slidell for awhile and traveled the twin span to UNO later to work. I always went too fast. I drive much more safely now. ;)
