| Hi my name is Lisa, & I live in Georgetown OH about 40 miles east of Cincinnati. I live on 10 acres with my hubby, a Great Dane, 2 Australian Shepherds, a Black Mouth Cur & 2 beautiful Nubian does that I got from fellow Farmgirl wooliespinner. I am forced to do some work outside of the house(real estate appraiser), but am fortunate in that my job allows me much flexibility. I love to garden, can, and am attempting to learn to knit. Quite a joke. I can't wait until my goats kid & I am able to have goat milk. I have been a long time lurker & want to say a special Hi to Kygurlsrbest. We are fairly close & it is coincidential; my sis & BIL own a photo studio on Main St in Cinci(close to Carol's) & when I used to work for them we ate lunch at Arnold's all the time. I also love ballet(I used to take about 40 lbs ago) although I didn't even start until I was 35(47+now) I still love it & wish I had a place close to Georgetown to try to get back on the barre. I'm also a big fan of Rabbit Hash, & know Jane Cochran, the quilter that owns the current mayor(a dog for those of you who are wondering). Anyway, I think you gals are great & thank you for all your warm wishes, welcomes & great ideas. |

Welcome Lisa!! You sound just great!! It will be so fun to get to know you here! Cool that you are so close to Kygurlsrbest!!! And you are going to love having your own fresh milk. I had dairy goats (Saanens) for years before I got my perfect cow, Mona a couple years ago..and I figure someday I will be back to goats again...when Mona is in retirement and the kids are grown and I don't need gallons and gallons of milk. Goat's milk is great! I am glad you found us~! (and very glad you decided to de-lurk and join in!!!!_

Hey Lisa, howdy, Neighbor!!!!!! I too, know Jane Cochran--just helped out with a benefit in Rabbit Hash that she headed up. Girl, we have to get together, soon!!!!...another connection: my mother in law was born and raised in Georgetown, Ohio, now a "Hyde Parker". I don't think there are any of her people there any more (at least that she talks to :)), but I always loved it. My husband and I had our first really "lovey dovey" dinner at Carols. He worked there as a bar back when he was 18--soooo funny! He said he either got (guy's) phone numbers for tips or cash! What's the name of your sis's studio? My husband is the daytime bartender at Arnold's, so they should stop in and say hello again, soon! We also have 4 dogs, but we are NOT lucky enough to have a Black Mouth Cur. My husband would be SOOO jealous!
Oh my, I'm so excited. Your life sounds wonderful...would love to see photos of your farmette and your lovely nubians. We need to get together and work on some knitting projects, as I am a newbee, too. Maybe we can break out the pointe shoes, then, too

Lisa! So good to know you and a warm welcome to you! Good luck with knitting! I am sure you will catch on fast! I am just learning to crochet and my first attempts have been dish-rags. Working on my third one now and improving with each stitch! You will love it here and will continue to meet wonderful woman! Glad you found MJF!
P.S. Hope you can find a studio to continue your ballet!
Hugs, Maryjane Lee

Hi, Lisa! I'm curious, and want to make sure I read you right. The DOG is the mayor? If so, it sounds like you live in a fun place! Welcome, from one of the Southern farmgirls!

Julie/Paradiseplantation-- A dog is the mayor of Rabbit Hash, Kentucky, about 10 minutes from my house, here in No. Kentucky. He's a black lab named Junior. J

Welcome Lisa, Welcome! I had to read the end of your message twice; I was sure I was misunderstanding the whole "dog/mayor" concept...your town must be a lot of fun! Good luck with the knitting-my sympathies are with you (I've been trying for a while..) So glad you're here-I'm sure you'll fit right in and have lots of fun with all of us farmgirls Audrina |

Welcome Lisa,
You and Jonni sound like friends already...and personally, I think that more towns should have animals as mayors! Just think about it...

Hi Lisa ~ You and your life sound just delightful! I, too, hope to have a couple girly goats in the spring. By then you'll be an expert milker and I'll know where to go for advise. Can hardly wait to see photos!
Looking so forward to getting to know you better.
Blessings, Lea

My goodness, I went to work came back & saw all these great welcomes!! Thank you all!! Aunt Jenny, I was so pleased to see your reply, I visit your blog regularly, & like so many others, am completely exhausted after reading what you accomplish in one day. I understand what you are going through with Mona,I still can't tell when my girls are in heat(although they are only 10 mos old; they still should have had at least one cycle) They are very vocal when they see me, but other than that I can't see any true so called "needs". Wooliespinner, who I got them from, said she would supply me with a rag soaked in "buck smell". I may have to try that. Jonni.. My Black Mouth Cur is a trip. I have never had a hunting dog, & he was given to me by my friend who bred him & wanted him to go to a woman, as he was a so called woman's dog. Well he is a woman's dog for sure & very leary of strangers. He sleeps on my pillow & looks so sweet(like all children I suppose) I saw your shepherd Rose's pic & she is a true beauty. My hubby loves shepherds(& Ruffian!!) My sis's studio is Bronze Photography. She is very talented & I am very proud of her. http:bronzephotography.com They do commercial work(Longaberger, Hampton Inns, & a boat load of food photo work) I remember going to Carols for lunch also when I worked there(about 10 yrs ago) & there was always a cute guy in back of the bar. Your hubby?? Of course most of the guys there were cute. I remember in particular a salad called "cock a noodle do?" We also have the music thing in common. Before I married my hubby, I had a few musician/dancer boyfriends. I was actually a music major in college(flute player, Music Ed degree from Miami U of Oxford)My hubby & I still play in an old time Cornet Band with players ranging from 10-90+. What a hoot!! We do need to get together. This weekend my hubby is going to Canton OH for the HS football playoffs, so I am going Saturday to visit Jennifer Gleason's organic farm in Mt Olivet KY. She has an organic business by the name of Sunflower Sundries, selling all sorts of goodies. I appreciate all of you encouraging my needlepoint efforts, although I am a lefty & have made the decision to try right handed so I can understand the patterns better. Is this a wise idea?? I am so uncoordinated I can't tell. God Bless you all |

Lisa, sent you an email--dh and I are also heading down to Jennifer Gleason's for her open house. So, I'll see you there, girly! Oh, and I'm a lefty, too, so there's yet another thing we have in common! Yay!
