Is there a place I could find a pattern for this? I may think of doing this, but not sure. Sounds kind of like the dishcloth swap & I had fun with that.

I love to crochet...I can make anything without a pattern, usually just need a pic for inspiration. I could do this....since it would be due after Christmas.

Are you talking about coasters? They could just be stacked with a ribbon to hold them together when not in use :-) Hope we get some gals to join us!

Yes, they are same as coasters, but I like to make mine a little oblong, but they can be round, square. but mug mats are usually made from yarn. Some have fringe, some don't. I have never seen a pattern except in coasters with fabric. It would only take afternoon, it that long. but to Crochet Pattern Central and you could find something there.
what about color- want to specific or just go with it?

I just measured the biggest mug we have, and its 3.5 inches across the bottom, so what you you think of 4 or 4.5 on width? And are you alright with the fact it can be square, round or rectangle? Feed back please.

PERHAPS decide on an approx size for all of us? I think to fit a regular coffee mug is sufficient.
I like BRIGHT colors...any color just bright.

I would really like some feed back. I did measure a regular size mug and its 3.5. Our biggest mug are just taller. I did not realize that. Being mugs they run a little lager than cups. I think 4.5 in diameter. That only gives you 1/2 inch on each side to hit the mat. What about color.

Can I still sign up for this? Can we use acrylic for this or would you like cotton?

Are we making one set of 4 total or a set 4 for each person?

Just making sure I can do this. I know it doesn't take long, but I want to make sure I have the time and the $ to mail out. I have a lot on my plate right now.
Thanks!

Ladies, Cotton or Acrylic? I personally vote for cotton more absorbing. What do you all think?

Ok I am in...can handle 1 set. I like black or red for my colors. I have black in my kitchen, so those would look nice on the counter. I have butcher block counters & am constantly telling the kids to use a coaster or put their drinks on the stove, so these will come quite in handy! I never thought to make them. Thanks for the ideas!! So you will let us know who we are swapping with around the 10th of December right?

I agree with cotton too.

Howdy all, just checkin' in...I have some ideas but no real decisions. Can't decide between crochet or knit coasters. I'll be getting the yarn soon. I am assuming that knit would still be good instead of crochet.

yup...crochet is faster... I thought I was just slow at knitting! So it's not just me.
:-)
Sometimes I like to do something different and knitting can be very calming, and on some things it gives a nice softness.
I look forward to looking for the yarns. :-) :-D
