I don't know why I didn't think of this before, but better late than never. I found a website of a family in Pasadena, CA (a rather large city) who is homesteading/farming on their city lot. They have veggies, fruit, animals and try to be as self sufficient as possible. It's a very interesting site and I have gotten a lot of useful ideas that I've been able to adapt for my little 1/3 acre.

They have workshops and the dad speaks to garden groups. I've never been able to visit, but I'm hoping to in the spring when they're finished with some upgrade projects.
Anyway, I found it very inspiring and adaptable for any size town lot. I love their "can do" attitude. Hope our urban/suburban farmgirls will also be inspired to do what they can where they are.
After all, country is more a state of mind and heart than acerage.
Enjoy, Jenn |
