I think your first farmgirl apron should be handmade from a friend or yourself. Cause that is a farmgirl self efficent. LOL

I made my own first apron. There was just something about that sense of accomplishment. It was a half apron, though now that I wear them all the time I prefer the full aprons and I especially like the farmgirl apron pattern that MaryJane gives in her book.

Since you don't sew by hand does this mean you also don't sew by machine?

Another suggestion would be to go to the Farmgirl Barter section and ask for someone to swap their handmade apron for something of value that you have or have made. Many of us like fabric or books, etc. You can look around in the Barter forum to see how it works! That way you would have one that one of us has personally hand made....
In fact I'll swap with ya! :-)

Thank you Ladies for your comments... I am going to sew one, I had wonder of the farmgirls had their own, o anitques one. I am looking for a antique one, but I am going to make one that was made for farms. I also saw pattens on ebay and walmart. I could find one these last 2 days. I do have one coming and i am sure i will end up with a draw full of them. Many thanks...

Don't forget that your first apron doesn't have to be bib-style, or have more than straight lines. And forget handsewing. I don't handsew except buttons. Machine sewing is just fine and plenty self-sufficient. Best of luck with your efforts!

Blessings.

My first apron was in Home ec.
It was a half apron.
I love making the bib kinds
I try to make my Mother-In-law a bib apron
every year.
She loves the aprons I make her
She says everyone wants to know where she
gets her aprons
I like emblishing them too. Pinkroses

Shelia,
So nice to see another farmgirl so close to home. I am in Floyd along with my daughter farmgirl1. Good luck with the aprons (I am sure there will be many) As a matter of fact I purchased a beautiful flour sack last weekend at Ferrum College Blueridge folklife festival and I am heading upstairs to my sewing room tonight to make ME an apron out of it.

Look forward to getting to know you,
Hugs, Becky
