I started knitting a bag today, that I'm hoping to get to the felting stage of in the next couple of days. I think it's such a clever idea! I might make some felted oven gloves next, and if they work out, I might make some for christmas gifts

Nin, I'm just tippy toe-ing around the edges of wool crafting, including spinning, felt making and felting. I love the felted flowers Bev, they are to die for.I have a HUGE sweater that I wore when I was much rounder, I think I will toss it in the hot water and see what happens. It is a soft heathery purple and would look good felted. Next summer, I shall have to haunt the tag sales and such for likely woollies to play with.
Wishing you joy in small things and peace in your heart

I think it's such a nice way of recycling sweaters and things. I always feel so guilty when I get rid of them, or anything for that matter.
I'm intrigued by spinning too- that might be something I look into over the next year or so (I have too many other craft projects to finish first!!)

Love your bag Bev! I haven't felted knits, but have done a lot of woven woolens. I mostly do dark primitive style things so the selection of wool in garments is great for me. The knits are intriguing-or rather your projects are ladies! Thanks for sharing! Rhonda

That's cute & catchy Jane!
I've wet felted, needle felted, crocheted & felted, knitted & felted, old sweater felted. Any part of fiber is fun for me!!!

Jane and Corgipants, your creations are GORGEOUS!
I'm in the process of my first knit-and-felt project. I'm hoping to get it finished this coming weekend :)

Thanks Nin, I have been knitting for about 2 years and felting for about a year and just started needle felting about 2 weeks ago. So I'm still learning all the ins and outs, but it is so much fun. I just finished knitting and felting 8 bags for a show I'm in and will needle felt them this weekend. Will post pictures on my blog when I'm finished.

Bev, Your workshop blog looks great!
Jane, I loved looking at your felted creations. They are so cheerful and whimsical
I'm still catching up...so much to look at since I've been gone.

Hi Nin! I am just starting to teach myself to knit (plus we have a lovely yarn shop here that has a free sit n' knit whenever you need help).......so...it'll be awhile til I get to felting a bag....
I do, however, needle-felt. Its great, great fun. If you can poke at something, you can needle-felt. Are you familiar with it?? I'd really like to learn to wet-felt too.....
Your latest pix are just wonderful; they make me pine for England (if its possible to pine for somewhere you've never been!)
(how's that sister of yours?? We're anxiously awaiting her kits...

I taught myself to needle felt this weekend.....what fun!!! I am shrinking sweaters left and right and then poking the heck out of them needle-felting designs to embellish them!! Thrift shops are a great source of cheap wool sweaters! And sleeves make great mittens!!!

Hmm.....I'm intrigued by needle felting now. I'm definitely going to look into it. I just attempted to felt a bag I knitted last week- it shrank slightly, but I think I'll wash it again a couple of times to make it a bit smaller. I've put a pic on my blog if anyone's interested...

I have just been trying needle felting. I bartered with KarenP for her needle felting kit. I really enjoy it. I want to learn how to do animals, like sheep and cows. My project was to try to decorate a bag I was making out of a recyled sweater. Anyone know how to needle felt animals? I know I can google it, but it is more fun asking here.
