I am more than a little freaked out today. My oldest son got orders today calling him to active duty (Army) he has been an inactive reserve for 5 years and only had a little over 2 months left. He has to report to SC for mobilization training 2 days before his 30th birthday..on Nov. 25. He was called up for 400 days and isn't connected to his original unit. I will have to find out more of the details tomorrow. He is sort of in shock. I am just terrified. I know there was always this chance..but all this time passing sort of made me forget. He was in medic training..right after bootcamp during the Sept. 11th tragedy and I was so afraid he would get sent right out then...but then all this time and he was "safe". Please pray that I can be strong for him, cuz I don't feel very strong right now!

Aunt Jenny, Praying for strength and courage for you and safety for your son. If I was in your shoes, I am sure that I would be majorly freaked out especially with so much time passing. Peace to your heart Jenny. Carol Sue

Aunt Jenny, I will pray that the Lord will protect your son and all the sons and daughters who volunteer to proudly serve in our armed forces. My husbnad was in the Air Force in the 80's and I remember how I felt when Desert Storm started and they were calling up inactive reserve. I was so afraid to be alone with Adam who was just a baby at the time. Now, Adam is in college and in Air Force ROTC and no doubt some day will be called to serve his country far from home. Although we are so proud of our children choosing to be counted, as mother's, we still want to keep them from harm. Prayers go out to your son and to you. Angie.

Oh Jenny, I'm sorry. Two months to go, and they put in the orders, huh? I just think this whole thing is terrible, and my disappointment in this war is obvious, but please know that I am thinking about you and your family. J

Jenny I will be praying that you will find strength in the Lord during this time. Please don't take this the wrong way but honestly, I can't say I'm sorry as it's part and parcel of being in the military these days and your son's willingness to serve is a GOOD thing! Even though it's a shock just know that the Lord has plans for both of you that are good! While there will inevitably be some hard times I hope that he will see the good as well if he actually deploys. I don't know if there will be an FRG support available for you but if there is it will help understand some of the military side of things. Please tell your son thank you!
While They're at War is a good book to read as are Heroes at Home & When Duty Calls.
Blessings and hugs,
Holly
ps-- remember I can't say I understand from a Mom's point of view but I certainly can from a wife's and it will be ok!
As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord!

Oh Jenny, I'm sorry to hear about this. As a mom, my heart just breaks for you and your family. We just have to trust in God that everything will work out and he'll be safe. I'm praying for his safe return. Hugs, Lu
P.S. When he gets settled in, let us know if we can send him anything. I think we should all adopt him in Farmgirl style, and make sure he gets mail regularly! Would he like that???

Hey, Jenny ... I can understand your fear and worry.
May I join the others in THANKING your son for his service to our country, and I will add my prayers that he will be back home safely as soon as possible.
Go and enjoy your special time with your son, give him all your love and then hug him 1000 times more and tell him those hugs are very special ones from the farmgirls!

Oh Jenny, I don't even have words. My oldest son, who is 37 was born with Downs Syndrome and his brother (who was born 14 months later) was in the National Guards here in Idaho. My second son now has two young children and his own business and it scares me senseless to think he could be called. I have a 17 year old son at home and I can't put into words what either of them being called to duty would do to me. I would rather go in their place than think about what could happen. If you were close I would hug you and let you cry your fears out but I can only cyber hug you. I don't respond to lots of topics but every once in a while one moves me to say something. You are all in my heart. Farmgirl love to you all, idcityrose

Oh Jenny! My heart goes out to you. I will be praying for your "boy" and for you too. As the Momma of three sons this is always in the back of my mind. We will pray your son is back home very soon.
We had a friend called up with ONE month left to serve, also reserves. He went, was there six months, and returned home safely. He & another dear friend married on his return. A very happy ending/beginning.
Bless you Jenny, Rhonda

Jenny, this is a mother's worst nightmare. It is totally understandable that you are a mess. I know I would be. I will pray for your son and that he comes home safe and sound soon if he is deployed. I know you are a strong woman and that you will be there to back him up 100%. I pray for your peace of mind and the ability to deal with this frightening time. God will be there for you and so will we. Talk your fears out, it makes them more managable.
Prayers and Hugs, Mary Jane
