I have a serious case of behindedness happening now that I’m back home (a book signing yesterday, an out-of-town business partner coming tomorrow, I’m a speaker at a two-day conference this weekend, we had meetings today about the work required to get our henhouses and merit badges online, photos to take, books to write...) but I wanted to take a minute to say what a wonderful celebration of sisterhood I experienced in Idaho City, GA and KY. It just doesn’t get any better or any more amazing!! Rose, Lisa Marie, et al, your sense of place shot a hole through my heart. I am still smitten!!!! Karin, you are one of god’s best gifts to the world--your home is a sacred sanctuary…in TOTAL farmgirl style of course. You write girl!!!! Frannie, you amaze me beyond words. Your commitment to bring out the best in everyone you touch is an inspiration. No wonder an entire town loves and adores you. I miss you. Miss Wilma, when life gets rough, can I come curl up on your porch swing again and sleep like a baby? Will you feed me the world’s best watermelon and corn and fried pie? Will your friends sing songs that make me cry? Will you send me down the road with another five-page hand-written story as good as the one where “Miss Wilma takes on the state of Kentucky”? “Okay, officer, I have a good coat, a warm blanket, and a cup to pee in so I’m not leaving until…" (The news of Miss Wilma’s stand-off went nationwide! Stay tuned for more.)
Thank you. Thank you Rose, Lisa Marie, Karin, Frannie, Miss Wilma, everyone. I love you all.

MaryJane

p.s. I also need to thank my publisher who funded a significant portion of my travels. Authors are usually sent to bookstores in cities but they “got” who we farmgirls are and agreed to let me take my entourage onto country roads. However, I did PROMISE them it would sell more books. So girls, put as many books as you can on your upcoming Holiday gift list. And don’t forget to write a review on Amazon!!!! Like JPBluesky said, “We’re a farmgirl ARMY!”

Look for my new book, "MaryJane's Stitching Room," in bookstores now. Coming next in 2008: "MaryJane's Outpost Guidebook - for Cultivating Your Inner Wild."

we are indeed a 'farmgirl family' .. with seeds sprinkled everywhere we travel .. be it in person or via 'cyberspace' .. whether quietly passing our wisdom to our children (the fruits) .. or spreading our roots deep in the soil of our communities and nourishing their souls. we are all connected from the warmth of farmland soil to the hard concrete of our city sisters. we spread our word through gentle acts and strong deeds.

we will indeed add your books, magazines and wonderful body/earth-friendly products to our shopping lists .. and tell all our 'family' to do the same.

thank you maryjane for spending some time with us .. and sharing that precious 'idaho family' with us for a moment in time!

xo, frannie

Okay! Lets get going on this for our sweet MaryJane! She has done so much for us, and it isn't hard at all to write a review! If you need any technical help- please let me know! I will be happy to help. It's the least we can do to thank her for such a wonderful place to chat, right? :D

MaryJane - when I came home from Ellenwood, I ordered another stitching book. Had one already, but this one is for my daughter - actually she has mine right now! Glad you got home safe and sound and that you had lots of new memories to take home with you.

Thank you, MaryJane, for all that you have done to make this Farmgirl Sisterhood strong and vibrant. You have caught up that thread in each of us that was waiting to be woven into the fabric of friendship, simplicity and good, honest work.
I will carry the memory of your visit with me forever, and will always remember the sweet spirit that was in my home on that not-so-ordinary day.
Anytime you want to come back, you just let me know. There will always be room for a farmgirl gathering at my house!

Karin
By the way, I've already started saving pennies for my trip to the farm!

Thank you, MaryJane for your warmth, love and sincere friendship. We love you, too. You and yours are welcome here ANY time as are any other farmgirls who might want to come for a visit! So happy to hear you had such a wonderful visit in KY and GA. I know all those gals had such a wonderful time with you. What a great way to spread the farmgirl love!

Alee, I'm going to those links right now. Thanks for providing them to us.

MaryJanes visit is still fresh in our minds here in Idaho City. What a rare, wonderful spirit she is, and we are so thankful that she has chosed the path she has taken which includes all of us who recognize what she is building. She is truly the brightest star in the heavens.

I have purchased at least 10 of her Lifestyle books and have given them all away (except for the one I kept) and just purchased my first Stitching Room book, with a second on its way because these books make the perfect gifts. They are more life altering than any books I have read before and I am a read-a-holic who reads a huge variety of books, mostly to learn new skills.

God Bless you MaryJane and all of your family and extended family. You have made our lives so much fuller!

We are never alone in the forest of Sisters! We "Mountain Farmgirls" are outstanding in our field!

Got my new stitchin' book yesterday! Quick service!!! Still raggin' on my rug, and I re-read that instruction page last night. Love the photos in that book.
