I think that I would try to find a way to get along with each other just to keep the farm! Very nice looking place- what a great start this could give someone

I actually have heard of this before- I guess it has been investigated and as far as I know, it is real. I would call the town's police department and discuss it with them before you enter. They should be aware of it incase it is fraud. And if they have already investigated it, then they should be able to tell you if it is above board or not.
It is a beautiful property, and what a clever way to make sure you get your asking price!
I know for a smaller horse ranch feed alone can run over $2000 a month, electricity is about $300 a month, plus then you have property taxes, employee wages unless you do all the work yourself, so I would say anywhere from $3,000- $5,000 a month in the full swing of things.

I'm with Alee. I know what it costs just to run our 60 acre farm, and just the maintenance alone on this one looks steep. Ouch! However, they do this type of thing from time to time, and if I'm not mistaken, if they don't get the number of entries they set out to get, they pull the offer. It should be in the fine print, which if you choose to enter, they should send you a copy. I also think the entry fees are non-refundable. I remember reading an article about another couple that tried this -- I just wish I could remember what was said and how it worked. But I do know it's more than likely legitimate!

So did anyone send in an essay?
It's so tempting! :)

Friends of ours in the Chicago 'burbs have sent in their essay.
I want them to move closer to us (NW IL) but if God sends them to OH, then I'll be okay with that
