This has made me so happy! I cannot wait to have a jacket full of badges! I told my mom that I was finally getting my girl scout badges soon, only it would be better than those meanies who would not let me join when I was a little girl because my mom was sick and could not attend the meeting! They were definitely NOT farmgirl material! :) |

I am so excited! This will be so much fun, I can't wait to earn badges :) I think I might sew my badges on an apron. Sheryl-lyn, I was a girl scout for about one week! Cheryl

This is REALLY exciting news!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Mima do you want to do a virtual henhouse/chapter together?? That'd be two of us. If anybody else from California wanted to join us this would be a great opportunity :-) Amanda

Cheryl,
Sewing the badges on an apron is a way cool idea!!!! I can just see it hanging from a pretty painted wooden hanger all freshly pressed just the way our Girl Scout uniforms would have been.

This sounds so interesting and definitely a good way to go for those "always in rush" farmgirls. I've never been a member of a "sisterhood" do we do the spit in the hand, pink swear or what? Will we need habits? I have plenty of bad ones I can bring to the table! LOL!
Looking forward to seeing this become a reality!
Hugs & blessings,
Brenda

I was a Brownie but never "flew up" to Girl Scout. It just seemed like a lot of work to me. I was lazy even then! Anyway, a Farmgirl Gurl Scout sounds great. I think I'd like badges on Sashes since I don't have a denim jacket. On the other hand, I could get one. Looks like this is going to be a foggy mind day. Do I get a badge for that?

I was never a girl scout, though my sister was. I wish I had let my parents enroll me. I guess my mom asked if I wanted to be one, and I decline, though I don't remember doing so! :D Oh well! What do kids know? :D
I don't have a denim jacket either- Maybe this is the time to learn how to make my own jackets! Or perhaps I can find a great value one at GoodWill.
I am so excited to see what will merit a badge!

patricia, i bridged out of brownies but we moved and i never got back into it. I was thinking maybe i could put all my patches on a sewing bag or my overnighter bag. But I really like the whole apron idea, i would even make a special apron ooo oooo. what if each chapter made there own special aprons and then put patches on it if you didnt have the jean jacket. Well just an idea.

I really like the patches on aprons idea because the aprons are so much of a farmgirl thing.

I have been "gone" for a while - (son's finishing up bootcamps and settling in New London, Conn. and Yuma, Arizona) WOW, I have missed a lot. I love the idea of the Hen houses and the badges, someone has put a HUGE amount of time and thought into this - thanks. I cannot wait.

I just yesterday applied for my cyber chapter: Inner Mountain Mud Hens, for girls that STILL love to play in the dirt LOL! A gardening and small/mini organic farming group. Gonna have to see where this goes. I'm so grateful for all of the work that everyone has put into this. I have lots of info to share and projects to play with. no matter what, it is gonna be fun.

Hi, I'm new to everything-I joined the Farmgirl Sisterhood and received my wonderful badge and paperwork(so exciting), but am wondering about the password that I have seen mentioned in several postings for creating or accessing the virtual chapters...can anyone help me with this as I haven't gotten a password?

Hey Joyce, First of all welcome to the farmgirls clubhouse, Sister! =) The thing about the password is to do with the Henhouses (Blogs, kind of), you either have to join one of the existing cyber chapters or start your own. Could the Shabby girls have a hen house? That would be cool! You can read what's going on in the cyber chapters here: http://www.maryjanesfarm.org/HenHouseSnitz/default.asp And then decide what you want to do. I'm not much help, but I'm glad for another Farm girl who found us, always.
Little blessings every day to you and the "Shabby Girls"

Hi Joyce!
The henhouses are still in their infancy- they are still really new. I know MaryJane, Carol, Sunny, and Brenda at MaryJanesFarm are working really hard to get each chapter their own henhouse space. They have to work with the tech guys in charge of the henhouse each time to make a new space. Right now only two chapters have henhouses as putting up the framwork and nailing down all the walls takes a bit of doing. Stay tuned for updates!
