I just found out yesterday that I am having carpal tunnel surgery on my left arm on Monday and the right arm 2 weeks after. It is going to require my husband, mom, sister, and mother-in-law to use up a lot of vacation to help me take care of my kids, as I won't be able to lift for awhile. Scared, but also know what to expect because my sister just had the same surgery a couple months ago. I am looking forward to not having the pain and numbness in my hands and forearms, but the thought of someone cutting into my palm makes me queasy!

Heather--
Will be thinking of you! You've sure had a lot on your plate these last weeks. Hopefully this surgery will make you feel better!

Thank you, everyone. And you can say that again, Jonni! It has been a heck of a year, actually!

Today was the day. My hand really hurts! They didn't give me any for pain, I'm just supposed to take Tylenol, which doesn't even make a dent. I hate being one-handed! The anesthetic for the surgery was just supposed to relax me, but it put me to sleep. When I woke up I didn't even know they already did the surgery, so that was ok! I took a few hours for the numbness to go away, but when it did......ouch! And to think I have to go through this again in 2 weeks on the other hand.

Heather,
I am glad you are through this surgery but bummer on the pain, and just think it 2 weeks it will be done and you can heal up. Hugs.

Wow, Heather. I am impressed you could even type out a message at the keyboard the same day of surgery. Good luck and speedy recovery, with this one and the next surgery.

I am a pretty good one handed typer, especially due to the fact that a lot of times I am holding my baby with one arm anyway. I am feeling some better today. It will be even better tomorrow when I can take the bandage off!

Good luck, Heather. Hopefully, with each day, the pain will be less. Hopefully you have some help, there, at the house, and there's always Tylenol PM!

Heather, think of all the joy you will have without the pain and the increased mobility when you heal. Tell yourself all these things, and it will help the healing to go that way. All surgery is scary, but you have to keep your sites on the POSITIVE outcome. You can do it!!!! Best of luck. I just know God will be watching over you and guiding your surgeon through the procedure.

It is great to have family to take of you. Please take advantage of anything firends offer-bringing a meal over, watching your kids for a bit or doing your laundry. People like to help and feel good when they can. It also helps the ones who are taking care of you. You are a mom and naturally a giver. You will need to just accept and enjoy the care from these loving family and friends of yours.

Good luck. God bless.

Clare, you are definitely right. It was hard to get used to having to have help, but now I am learning to enjoy it. My husband has been really great, as has the rest of my family. I could get used to this!

Heather, I know you'll be so relieved when the other hand is "fixed", too! You're in my thoughts and prayers.
