Thanks Cheryl- I feel out of the know sometimes
And Kathy- Sounds like me- that yucky fabric on the jacket thing-
I pick out this great looking outfit on a "I can do anything" day only to sew it on a "Why am I doing this" day!!!
Never does even out!!!
I detest making clothes- is it the age, weight or just that I love making quilts??? What ever it is I am trying to be more moderate and try a dress once in a while between quilts.
Blessings to my farmgirl friends!!!

Kathy,
totally know where you are coming from on the sleeves. I think as you do it more and more though it becomes easier.
It has for me anyway. I've never heard of the ASG. Sounds like fun though.

Hey Cheryl,

I may be wrong but I think you can form a local chapter of ASG..you could double check at the website.

I'd rather be shot than have to do set-in sleeves...LOL Love making my Bohemian caftans with fringe..super easy and fits my comfort clothing state of mind I admire all the gals that make the Ren clothing and other fitted garments.

I posted this thought over in the Sisterhood topic but thought I'd put here since our chapter has the sewers.

I thought it would be neat to embroider our Farmgirl Sisterhood number and surround it with the hexagon border. would be cute as another patch for aprons, jackets, things we make, etc.

Another brain .....ttt,

We could even start an ongoing FG number patch swap with everyone making their own deadlines. That way we can slowly collect everyone's number and make something from them.

Stephanie,
That sounds neat. I can't embroider with my machine. Just small lettering is all. But I was just thinking that adding our name and or state would be neat too.
Maybe make snowball blocks with them? Or something like that.
We could make a game out of collecting them. See who can collect the most.

Autumn,
I have a half finished jacket lining and all in my sewing room. Will I finish it? I don't know. I messed up on, you can guess it, the sleeves. Should have just made a vest! As for dresses, my body is not a dress body. I am too short. Too big in the bust. And I walk like an iron worker.

HA!Kathy! You are so funny!!!
I am a dress person because when I put on a pair of jeans I walk like an iron worker!!
Besides I have the opposite problem- wide hips!
The dresses seem to smoothe the contrast for me-and keep me from walking like a man!
I need that graphic Steph- Kathy made me giggle!!!

Blessings,

Hey there,

Kathy, I like the idea of making the number collecting as a game to see who can collect the most Sounds like a fun way to approach it.

You can just hand embroider, it doesn't have to be machine embroidered. I kind of like the more primitive hand embroidery. It makes each block so unique. And adding any other info is great.

Another thought would be to embroider in a brighter colored floss and embroider the info onto a scrap of our Apron fabric.

Ok, Autumn..I'm looking for the rolling in the floor laughing graphic

Annika, are you feeling better? I was thinking you've had a cold?

Does anyone know how we are doing the patch for our group BWOB? I know there was talk of having one made up I think?
Are we still doing that?
Anyone want to give an update or maybe I missed something if one was given recently.
Think I'll check my newsletter for info on that it's probably in there.
Sorry if I am asking something that has already been answered.

I think that the more "fun" a group is, the more productive we all can be.

Hand embroidered, that I can do. I don't have a number yet but maybe I will here something monday or tuesday.

Ok....The bwob patches are being made....more to come....
I like the number patch idea.....design our own number patch that represents who we are individually could be a fun idea.....and swapping them even more fun!! We have to brainstorm on that....sounds like fun!!!

Deb....I posted my apron back on the fabric thread.....check it out....just a couple of pages back from where we are now.

I, too am all for hand embroidery....don't seem to have an embroidery machine amongst my collection....HMMMMMM, may need to get one of those some year. But then, I am very old fashioned....love the hand work!!

Bev: I do have an emboidery machine, but still love to do it by hand too. Something so relaxing and soothing about it. Like hand-quilting (which I rarely do, but still love).

I like the idea of keeping the numbers swap as a one on one thing so we can set our own deadlines. That way it doesn't become another swap that I can't get finished before a deadline. It removes alot of pressure when you have many other priorities going on in life.

I've got all this medical stuff going on right now and thought it would be relaxing and almost mindless to work on some whimsical variations of my number. When I have something ready to swap I'll make my own contacts to see who would like to exchange with me.

Keeping things as simple as possible will bring me the most joy.

Are we talking about a swap of an actual patch that we made or our BWB chapter made? Just curious as to what we are discussing.

Hey Linda,

I'm talking about embroidering our Farmgirl Sisterhood numbers on a piece of fabric (any kind of your choosing..It can be just the number or you can fancy it up with a hexagon border, screenname, state, etc. My focus is on the numbers.

I'm not picky with how it's done..I think if we just make it the way our heart says to then I'll receive a bunch of patches that all look different.

6x6 inches on whatever type of fabric you want it on.... is what I'm looking for.

Everyone can decide for themselves what size and what they want on the patch. Hope that made sense.

Hey Linda,

Go over here if you want to be on my one on one number swap. We won't be setting any deadlines until after New Year's but I can add you to my list if you think you'd want to swap at some point.

ok...that is what I thought..sounds like fun. I need to wait till after new year to even plan a new project. I am behind on so many projects now!
This swap does sound very personal...I think a good idea is put our name or screen name on them. I put my number and also the year on my farmgirl patch.
