APRON POCKETS on 'vintage' tablecloth aprons'
on our way to toledo a week or so ago .. i saw this little blue tablecloth .. i didn't get it .. but couldn't get it out of my mind .. sooooo .. on our way back home .. we stopped and oh yay! it was still there! i kept thinking what a fun little apron it owuld make ... it's fulla' coloroful fruits!

i cut a portion off at the top for 'apron strings' .. it was plenty wide enough
just folded it over after gathering the 'apron' and sewed it on

rummaging through my 'vintage linens .. i found this and
loved it .. sooo .. i just 'stitched this generous 'pocket' on!
it's embroidered .. little kitchen things.

i found this 'card table size' table cloth in ohio ... along with the
sweet embroidered basket of flowers doily. just stitched
the doily to the front of the apron .. had to find a 'coordinating'
piece of fabric (in the same shopppe in ohio) to make the
apron strings from.

t'is a sweet one.
--------------------------------

this little apron was sent to me by linda chavez ..
i found a 1989 linen 'calendar' dish towel ..
(by the way .. they can be a GREAT source for
apron pockets!)
just sewed it on .. and VOILA .. i have a fun 'country apron'
miz linda .. i PROMISE i will wrap your 'vintage bib apron' and dolly
before midnight and get it on it's way to you tomorrow when i go to town!

=========================

++++++++++++++

hung all three on a pegrack on the back of our 'garden porch'

AFTER WRAPPING owed dollies and treasures .. i'm going to
start playing around with 'prissy' doilies for apron pockets!

Hey Frannie,

Love the vintage tablecloth apron...I've got a closet full of the vintage tablecloths, crochet and embroidery just screaming to come out and become somethng new...LOL One day it will all magically transform to something useful!

Tryed to post on your blog..guess you don't have it set for posting?? Really, you should post your beauties on the Apron Sew Along!

thanks gurlz .. i have to sit and take some time to read that thread! it soudns so wonderful. i find it takes awhle to 'download' pics to the forum .. but when i return from town, i'll give it a try! today .. i'm going to go get some ribbons and rosettes to 'fussie-fy' the 'dainty doilies' for apron pockets. will post those when i've done a few. i want to start making some simple little 'tie around your waist' children's aprons too! i'll probably use 'new fabric' for the aprons and 'olde doilies' for the pockets.

have a great day gurlfrenz! xo
