Bonne, my treadle is still in my car, but when I get my son out here this weekend, it is coming inside! Of course i forgot to buy a belt fot it, but when the roads are clear tomorrow I'll probably go pick one up. And yes, I will hold those birthday presents ransom until hw has brought it in. (great minds think alike). I'm going to cook a duck for Martin's birthday and Zan and I are going to bake him twenty two cupcakes (he has two roomates) because we loved the pictures of the hedgehog ones in Martha Stewart Living this month. they won't all be hedgehogs. I'll probably take a picture if they turn out funny enough.

Ruth, my thoughts are with you and your husband on your trip to see his godmother. I hope she gets the medical help she needs.

Jess, thank you so much for posting my quilt block. It looks ok to me in the picture, I just get blotto after hours of applique. Yams are definitely one of the tastiest root vegetables. And the color is so yummy too,

I have two big bags of frozen peas on my shoulders, I'mhoping they will help, I really need to get some sewing done today....

I love yams too.

I had to drop my car at dealers again- warrenty work again they like to drag that out to make more money but they are lucky I am not paying them.

So at least when I am grounded home once a week I will be sewing.

Gee Karin, we were both changing poopy diapers at about the same time. My son is going to be 23 next month. LOL You can always order a belt online if you don't feel like going farther than your mailbox too. I've gotten that way about sewing machine parts~they're so difficult to find local anymore. Can't wait until you start playing around with it~I learned the most about the workings of sewing machines in general from "troubleshooting" and just cleaning up my treadles.
I also found that stitching together squares for quilts to be the best way to practice treadling. It's so repetitive. Good luck~I hope it doesn't have too many "kinks".

Ronna, the cathedral window was the first quilting technique I ever taught myself. I like it because it's finished as you move along.

The treadle is awesome.

Thank you, Karin.

I have my sponge sitting on the counter and it seems to be increasing. Is it supposed to that? I can't wait to work with it.

I have my starter in the fridge~do I need to keep feeding it? Can it just sit in there until next week?

Gosh~I have never done this and don't have a clue. My mom never baked bread. It's something I have always wanted to try.

I am going to be doing some sewing this afternoon. Just have to peel some potatoes for supper. I have stew meat in the crock pot. I cleaned the living room, vacuumed and worked on some math practice with my son. Now it's time for some sewing. YEAH!!

Like Ronna said, the stuff in the fridge thrives on neglect. I try and feed mine once a week. Just stir in the tea-like hooch floating on the top.
Your sponge can overflow the bowl~make sure it's big enough for it~especially if the house is warm~it loves warm. Practice practice practice and you'll find your breadmaking niche. The fun part is you can eat your practices.

I got my pressure canner and saucemaker today!! Can hardly wait 'til summer! lol
Those are 2 things I'd really wanted. I'm so self-sustaining now I can hardly stand myself.
Red got so used to taking "sun showers" last fall during our 'bathroom fiasco' now he wants to set up a permanent enclosure outside so we can take them during the warm months....regularly! hahahaha!!
"we're using the sun to heat the water and use a lot less water overall....blah blah blah"
wait a minute.....next we really will have a yurt in the yard......I keep having flashbacks to my previous life as a Native American.....

Bonne~That's great. Where did you get your pressure canner from. I always think that if I used one of those it would probably blow up.

Ruthie, Amazon.com for the pressure canners. Free ship. You need the pressure one for meat sauces and some vegetables.
yes!! I should have large black things on my roof to collect heat! Actually, if YOU had several sun-shower bags(they're cheap) hanging from a tree, heating in the sun during the summer, you could shower all the kiddos for cheap and they'd be all loving it because it's like camping.

I will definitely check them out. Lehmans was too expensive.

Jess~the kids would definitely love showering outside. They would have a blast.

Ok~I'll probably be putting my bread in the oven at about 8 pm tonight. Anyway, I hope it turns out well. This is the first time in my life that I have kneaded bread.

Do you put something with water in the oven while you bake your bread like it said in MaryJane's magazine?

Bonne, hanging my head in shame. at least the Minnesota is in the house and not the garage or storage.
Ruth, hope your bread is wonderful. Even more so being your very first loaf. You know we're all with you helping.
Steph, cathedral window isn't the easiest of patterns, good challenge. Yes, each window was completed and joined. Some of the windows are likely polyester, feel that way. Bright pastels-is that a good description.
Jess, do you like yams cause they're orange?? I love them too, any which way. Haven't bought any recently, must do that.
Cleaned out the freezer side of the fridge today...bits of this and that, leftovers that are now down the disposal or in the trash. A few freezer burned meat packages I'll cook up for the dogs. Unless the smell when they're defrosted. No telling how long they've been in there, since I use the Foodsaver for everything.
Larry is home and snoozing on the couch. I know he's asleep cause Soap Operas are on.
House is even presentable, if the sewing room door is left closed. It's better too, but still a work in progress for sure.
Karin, hope the pain episodes will ease off for you, enough already.
Anyone heard from Carol Sue? I'll have to call and see if she's okay.

Jess~I built the MJ greenhouse~actually hubby and his friend did but I did help some.

I want a pressure cooker to. My birthday is coming up. Maybe i can save up my birthday money for it.

Ok~I won't bother with the water if there's no difference in the bread.

Thanks Ronna~I am so thrilled.

NOPE- no baby yet! A very grumpy momma though
I really hope she doesnt cave in to be induced- it is so common here that most of the younger women I know just schedule the date and never give it a thought.
She still has about 8 days till her due date-but she is sooo uncomfortable. She is a bean pole with a bump-and its ALL baby!!!

Also took my teenager to get contacts this morning-he broke his glasses during his last stint of stunt-man living escapades.I'll spare you the details of active 15 year old inventive hyper boys!!!!
Also>>>>>>>>>DRUMROLL PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got a serger today!!!!! Bought a used Janome for $199. It's a year old -bought it from the local shop/friend. Haven't sewed a bit yet-had to check on ya'll!!!

Blessings,
Autumn

Jess~it took much longer than it says in the magazine but it wasn't hard. They got it done without any problems. Just more time.

Autumn~sorry about your daughter. Take all the advice Jess gives. She knows what she's doing. Yay! for your serger Autumn!!!!!
