Thanks y'all.... the homeowner stuff was fixed before we left (the damaged pipes anyway) and thankfully the next 10 day weather forcast isn't day after day of freezing temps...all of this did realign our plans..I will go on and move to the cabin whenever we can find a window of free time to drive a big truck up there...hopefully I can make an appointment with folks for estimates on the heat/air systems so that will happen ASAP after my arrival. We've done the absentee ownership with the Alabama home and it was very stressful. Neither of us feel like being that stressed over the next two years...enough is enough, ya know! There's always a sacrifice in life to make things happen..we were trying to make it all happen without being seperated so much but it's not gonna work that way.
------
Karin, your statement about handmade is 'right on'...the good energy that lives within our creations can really change a person's outlook...they just have to make the move to handmade to find out. And lucky for us that make and sell stuff there are more and more people that are fed up with the poor quality of mass production and are now looking for the extraordinary things to buy for themselves and their homes.
It does take the out of the ordinary person to buy our stuff though...lots of people are satisfied with buying everything at Wally World...sad but true. Thankfully there are lots of wealthy people in our great USA and they are still spending their money contrary to what main stream media is reporting.
------
Karin, I'm so sorry about your transmission...aaaacccckkkkk!!! to much money to spend..I was listening on the radio the other day about average costs for the major mechanical things on a car and it about brought me to my knees..good grief..I bet extended car warranties are on the rise...
And yes, that cocktail apron is too cute, isn't it? Having the cocktail glass applique included I thought maybe someone would make one and send me a link to it...I've got Bev's quilted wallhanging linked from the lady sewing on the treadle design. Thought it would give others an idea of how to use it. Glad you are enjoying all of it...I've got a ton of editiing to do tonight and tomorrow to get more uploaded. With me being gone I did several posts and scheduled them to appear each day..I think they are all posted now.
------
Jess, good for you! You are so talented..you should be making some money from what you enjoy doing. Cash always comes in handy.
------
Autumn, hope you feel better soon!
------
Bonne and Autumn, I had Janice Joplin hair in the late 70's and early 80's *wild*...I think I still have a picture of me with that hair..will have to find that..LOL I believe I passed on the big glasses though..that was stupid..people were wearing glasses that were just plain lenses...just to look cool!

Linda~How did your date go?
Karin~sorry to hear about the transmission. Cars can be such a pain.
Autumn~I hope you feel better soon.
Steph~I hope that you get some good weather and can move to the cabin sooner rather than later. Yes, unfortunately many people are happy to shop at Wally World and buy the junk stuff instead of paying for quality. Those poor workers in the third world countries aren't thanking us for our purchases, either. This cheap labor only helps the rich guys. I'll step down from my soapbox now.

Well, I've had my power nap, but I'm not feeling very powerful, fibro full tilt today. I'm going to go look at the honeycomb quilt posts. I found the one I did by hand (not finished of course) I'll take some pictures later....
It is such a treat for me to be able to connect with all you creative geniuses.

Hey girls- still moving slow- but I'm fine. Dear son is a jewel- he's cleaned up the kitchen, hung out my laundry and is busily building a trebuchet' outside. He has the mind of an engineer and inventor- society slows him down a bit. He's ready to enroll in college and work all at the same time He has no time to waste with this last year or two of school! I wish you could be a fly on the wall to watch him- he watches all things instructonal on satellite and then he gets up and builds, wires, bakes, cooks or constructs it!!! It is a HOOT sometimes!!! He made a SUPERBOWL cake for all of us yesterday-it was great! He watches Ace of Cakes daily right now and this was his hands on thing about cakes this week! Hang on Ill post a pic

Autumn~That's great~!!!! How nice of him to give you a hand like that. He sounds like a great kid and very intelligent. I wish he could come over and build a trebuchet with my son. He is always saying he wants to try it. I can't wait to see the picture of the cake. He sounds like a great young man. Good job, mom!!!!
Karin~You are a creative genius. Your quilts are simply amazing. I hope you are feeling better soon.

Ok Superbowl cake- he colored and rolled fondant for the footbal and decided on rice krispie treats, air brushed green for the field and he piped the yard lines with make shift bag and tips-then he was tired of the whole thing-thus his time as a cake artist ends

I can't wait to see the trebuchet. It is amazing what boys will get intent about and sometimes not want to do the simple things you ask them to do. Ruth

he's about 5' 7" so you can see that this thing is tall! Oh! Now he's moved it- must be shooting further as hoped!!!

WOW!!! That is amazing Autumn!!! My son definitely would like him to come here. How about a field trip from Louisiana to RI. It will definitely be educational. LOL
Jess~Devious things? Aren't they all little angels and then when things happen it was just an accident? LOL~I don't think boys think before they act.

Autumn, your son sounds so much like my oldest son. My son likes to cook and bake. I began teaching him when he was young. He took a cooking class in junior high.

Oh he's well oiled alright!!!! The gears are never still and the hands are always busy.
He wears us out!!!!! His oldest sibling is 33 and he regularly reminds us that we are OLD parents!!!WAAAHAHAHAHA!! He gives us a lot of slack and we do the same for him! He rarely plays video games- not enough activity for him- but he also rarely reads- but he ALWAYS thinks!!!!!

I had an orthodontist appt and it didn't go so well. He ended up taking off my top brackets and putting them on again. I feel like I am going to have these for the rest of my life. It's been two and half years and seems like forever. I was upset about it because I was really beginning to think they would be coming off. I was already having a tough morning and this didn't help.
Just wanted to gripe for a couple of minutes.
