Thanks Naomi. I just need to start finding new homes for some of this, it's about to swallow me. I should have gotten a booth at the antique mall before the economy tanked, now everywhere is slow.

Diana,Bonne has a treadle machine thread with info on researching the machines. She or Jessica might be able to head you in the right direction. Pretty machine and $2 was great...now if the missing part isn't $100, you're in business. Still would be nice on display, better if you can use it if you want.
I bought several bags of sewing misc yesterday at Goodwill and there were two bobbin cases. One I think will fit my featherweights and they're pricey. Will have to find out what the other one belongs to and find it a home. The missing bobbin case is a bad thing in older machines.

yes great find, i have been trying like mad to get my hands on a hand crank for less than 200 fo ra few years.

the missing pieces should be fairly easily replaced, start with ebay..i am no good at keep links around for easy access, i always have to redo my searches to find them, but bonne has the link to the shop on ebay that should have them, and there are a few other links as well.

great find, glad u snagged it up

okay ronna...look for one of those babies for me

Ok, Ronna, if I werent' so freakin' grateful for your awesome starter, I'd be badgering you endlessly to POST YOUR PICTURES ON YOUR BLOG! IT'S THE EASIEST WAY TO POST PICS!! There, did I say it loud enough. ;)

Yes, I found the "treadlin' along" thread and posted that link in Diane's thread on her find. She'll need to browse through all the pages, but there are links to the important places to go throughout that thread. Handcranks just aren't seen anymore~surprises me that this one popped up in remote Idaho. You just never know!

Oh, and I SEWED AN APRON TODAY!

Karin, How does your mailman expect you to put up a new mailbox with a pile of ice and frozen ground? Maybe you could tell him you will get a new one if he wants to put it in!

Jess, are you done with the cleaning fairies yet? When you are could you send some to me and some to Sharon's house!

Ok Jess, first one I find is yours. I usually see a bunch of old machines at Goodwill and Salvation Army, GW only had two yesterday, crap ones too. When I spotted all the sewing stuff bagged, went and looked at the machines. Thought there might be a Featherweight since the bobbin case was in one bag...not.

never can tell when an auction is listed wrong and hardly anyone sees it to bid. I won two old quilts that way yesterday, one for $7, the other $8. same seller, so shipping will be combined and still less than $30 total.

Hey girls-really busy-cleaning the chicken house, sewing, visiting old folks and now time to start supper. Busy day tomorrow too-we don't even watch football- but its a good excuse for a party-so getting ready for that!
Just the kids-but we have such fun doing the whole thing-I guess we should invite other folks but we never do!
ALSO WANTED TO PASS ALONG A BIT OF ENCOURAGING NEWS ABOUT THE
fEB 10TH LEGISLATION ON USED BOOKS & CLOTHES-
http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/pending/cpsia.asp
Shouldn't be too bad on thrift and used shops after all!
Thank my hubby for the correct info-he researched it to set me straight. He could see I was really suffering over losing thrift stores

Blessings,

Not that I need more quilts, but some things one can never have too much of is my motto. I e'd a bunch of pics to Jess this morning. Yes, Bonne, I still need that swift kick to the rear. I actually took pics in the sewing room, but not sharing until I have a before and after. It's bad and other than paperwork that needs sorted and a lot shredded or tossed, it's all good stuff. That's what is so crazy.

Hello, ladies!!

I did some grocery shopping, did 4 loads of laundry~still have two to fold and made some muffins.

We played some Wii bowling. I love that game. I suck at all the others.

Ronna~wow~you have the best thrifts around you. Those magazines must be great.

Diana~nice machine~great find. Hope you get all the parts for it.

Jess~can't wait to see all your fairies.

Monica~share the pictures of your yarns with us.

I have pinned all my minis and hope to get some sewing in tonight.

I have been posting on eBay instead of cleaning. Today is my youngest son's birthday and he wants to spend the day with friends. They grow up too fast and we are more boring than his friends. So...since he doesn't want to hang out with us, I am posting pillow panels. I didn't know I had so many. I used to make pillows, but not any more.

Ronna, How nice that you got some quilts for a reasonable amount of money. I just download the pictures of the ones I love these days. It is amazing what is put up for sale on eBay, such fun to look, I usually check thevintage aprons and vintage crocheted potholders. Sometimes I check out vintage cooky jars so I can send the pictures to my daughter. She has several old funny ones. She tortures me in return by sending me horrible things, the most recent was a picture of Kenny Rogers with a cookbook he wrote. Ha.

I seem to have the black touch with everything today. Mixed up my bread, kneaded it for ten minutes, set it to rise in the kitchen. Well it is so cold in my kitchen it isn't rising. Did a load of laundry and put the bread in the laundry room so maybe the heat from my leaky dryer will help. When in doubt, time to try anything...

I think it is snowing again, oh dear.

I better get back to work on the last of my minis...

Karin

Karin, turn your oven on, for just a minute, then put your bread dough in the warmed oven to rise with a bowl of hot water. My house is just too cool sometimes too. I'll tell ya what though, when we have the wood stove burning, I can raise a loaf to double in an hour with old Zeb.

Karin, I put mine in the oven with just the oven light on and that seems to be just right for it to rise.

Linda, Great cartoon! although you probably aren't online reading this right now, should be getting ready for the date! Let us know how the movie is...
