Oh, Kathie, those aprons ARE adorable. Y'all do such fabulous work!!!

I'm looking forward to seeing a couple of Aprons Jess made me in exchange for a couple of my cotton-net grocery sacks. She said they should be here soon.

Though, I'm wondering Jess.... Did you take pictures or should I when they get here??? Gotta share your lovely handiwork, after all.

Blessings.

Alee, that's a perfectly adorable apron!!! Esp. for a first!!! I'm amazed at all the ruffles. That's not something I have the courage to try. I can barely manage gathering (and even then, mine are more "pleats" than "gathers"). Good job!

I kindof cheated on the gathering. I was having the hardest time because there was so much fabric- my strings kept breaking, so I made a hem at the top of the skirt but didn't close of the ends. The I took my big long tatting needle and threaded some crochet thread through. Then I tacked on the waste line at the ends only and I pulled on the crochet thread to do the gatherng. I then adjusted the gathers and pinned the middle and then at the quarter marks. Then I just zipped it through the machine. So thats how I did the waist band. For the ruffles on the the shoulders and the bottom of the skirt I just accordian folded the fabric, ran a gathering thread through the accordian folds, pinned at the half and quarter marks and zipped it through the machine. It took a few tries to get it right, but I am actually pretty happy with the way the ruffles turned out! :D

Alee, way to go girl. You did an awesome job. I couldn't have done that if it was my first sewing task. Apron looks good on you. I think that it is cute how you took a picture of yourself wearing the apron.

I've been stitching up doubled fleece blankets today, but managed to
squeeze in a quick reversible done in green leaf and blue leaves prints.
It's so dark & drizzly today, I can't get a very bright pic........

Hi Naomi,
It has been awhile since I peeked at your blog. Wow you are a busy one. Love all your great finds. Did you do the talk with the girl scouts yet? Wondered how it went. Hope things have settled down a bit for you. I think we may have to move just so I can find some decent thrift stores and sales. Everyone around here wants a small fortune for anything that looks old. I guess they figure it is worth more or can be something someone would collect.
hugs,
Denise

Denise: I cancelled the talk with the girl scouts, as life took a sudden turn for busy...haha...it has calmed down now, but also cooled off weather wise...so it would have been too cool to release the butterflies like the scout leader wanted. I will still do the talk, but October isn't the best time to do it, for me or the butterflies...haha
Thrift stores are expensive around here as well, but garage sales, if you are lucky, are priced like garage sales...haha...which Saturday, they were...

Anyways, I finished another purse last night, this one is not as crisp as the one from upholstery scraps, but it sure is cute....made from a pair of little girls shorts...hehe...pictures as soon as I remember, and get a chance....:P

Thanks Ladies! Now who'll be the one to buy it when I finally get it listed? :P j/k
Bonne Bonne...you are too nice you know that? :P

Today's sewing project...probably all those dish towels that need finished off, dunno yet though...I've got an old embroidered pillowcase with an ink stain and rip to cut up into something else(apron pocket maybe?)...Anybody know what gets little tiny pinpoint rust looking spots out? The nicer pillowcase of the set has a couple areas with bunches of tiny spots, I'm guessing from bed bugs long dead...

I'm working on my stockpile of things to sell at an employee
craft fair first week of Nov. where hubby works. So far I have
several aprons; knit hats and shawls; soap and whipped shea. I still need
more shawls and aprons and to do up some holiday decorated soap baskets.
