Okay, I need help. My family, 22 of us, are trying to find some place for us all to get together next summer for a weekend. I'm thinking some quaint town where the boys can go golfing, we girls can shop, we can all go for hikes, and pizza and we won't go broke. We have some die-hard city folk so camping is out. This sounds like a crazy request  , but anything come to mind? We would like to stay in the Olympia/Portland corridor. Julia

Maybe you could use www.findyourspot.com to find what you need? It is intended to help you find where you want to move to, but perhaps if you kept your goal in mind it would help you?

| If you like antique shopping, you can't beat Centralia. It is half way between Seattle and Portland, there are three golf courses in the area (Centralia/Chehalis), there are outlets for shopping, a ton of antique stores, Seminary Hill natural area for hiking and a lot of great places to eat. Downtown has the Olympic Club - it's a McMenimins restaurant, if you're familiar with them - great, great food, with an attached theater and hotel. The theater is really cool, kinda funky, with couches, etc. where you can watch the movie and eat your dinner, and it's only like $3.00 for the movie. Lots of motels in town because it's right off I-5 and they have a lot of softball and baseball tournaments there in the summer. I'm not really up on golfing communities, but LaConnor is lovely. Also any of the Pennisula towns such as Sequim or Port Townsend. Aside from quaint, there are always the ferries for a little island hopping or whale watching.

I did think of Centralia as well as Port Townsend. Just didn't want to miss any good ideas!

Julia~Would you want to go as north as Bellingham? It is an adorable town. Good food, good Coop, good shopping and hiking and I, am sure, they would have good golfing. It's beautiful.

I love Bellingham! Problem we have is the distance for some. Wanting to mimimize driving. It would be a 12 hour drive for us and my brother in Idaho, well... Though everything is an option right now. Thanks!

| Oh, I remembered one more thing about Centralia - it is easy driving distance from Mt. St. Helens visitor's center - and if your family hasn't seen a volcano up close and personal, it's a pretty neat thing to do. |

Heh...I never think of Bellingham as adorable, lol. If you come, let me know so I can say hello! Fairhaven in the south part of town is very quaint, and of course there are golf courses all over the stinkin' county now (as opposed to farms.)
