Isn't this great?!?!?! So - what do you all think we should have the patches for - any ideas for "accomplishments" a farmgirl should strive for?
Just a suggestion -
At some point, a farmgirl just has GOT to learn to make someting with a ham hock in the ingredient list.
XOXO, Libbie

Hi Susan,
Actually, I hadn't seen Julie's tablecloth until you mentioned it! I just now looked at it, and that chicken does look similar to how the artist drew the logo, doesn't it? (I don't think the artist ever saw the tablecloth, either!) Farmgirl minds think alike, I guess!

Love that Hen! Would it be alright to embroider the Hen (without the text) on to an apron pocket, flour sack towel, etc. Are you serious about a recipe with a hamhock? If you are I swear I have the best recipe for homeade soup made from a boil till the meat falls off hamhock. When I married DH I made beef veg. soup. Good, but.... MIL made some soup and when I tasted it I couldn't believe someone had not told me about the best soup I ever tasted! Everyone who eats some wants the recipe and they end up passing it around to others. I don't mean those little smoked ham hocks. I use the the end that is cut off of a country cured ham. Its the hock but huge, maybe 1 to 2 pounds. Tracy |

I am smiling because I read hammock and was gonna send the following hammock recipe 'til i realised my mistake... "Buy or make (following MJF lifebook instructions) a large hammock and hang it between two shade trees or sturdy posts. Then, along with a good book, sweet smelling pillow and comfy throw - and, oh yeah, don't forget the iced tea (or sweet tea if you are southern), go and lay down in the hammock. It is even nicer if you have a good dog napping underneath but not essential. Cheers, Karen

Tracey, I'd love your ham hock recipe, too (and I love the hammock recipe from MaryJane!) Could you also post the recipe under KITCHEN, so more of us can see it? Thanks!
Back to topic, the official Farmgirl Logo is terrific! What a great idea .. those Girl Scouts, Girl Guides, Boy Scouts, etc. in our families are going to be soooooo (sew?) jealous!

Hi Everyone,
I've collected all the great questions you have asked on this topic, and I'll go over them with MaryJane as soon as she has a free (ha!) minute. I'll let you know the scoop as soon as I can!
If you think of any other questions, just post them or pop them in an e-mail directly to me.
Thanks again for all the enthusiasm you have shown!

I just love the idea of the patch/logo, and especially what she stands for! Can't wait to add one to my barn jacket. I really like the idea of "uniting" all us farmgirls as well. Good job!!! Sharon

I am soooo excited about this gorgeous patch and all of the potential patches in the making. I want to earn every one and wear them like a girlscout (which many of you know I never was!!:( We can trade, etc. and enjoy and advertise one another in such a positive, productive way!
Oh Bev: I think that the first porcelain chicken is the "gateway drug" to chicken collections. You will never recover, but that's ok, I think!
I LOVE the red hen patch. Cannot wait to have one! |

This is terrific! I love chickens anyway. I admit to loving the little red hen story as one of my childhood favorites and I too, have a few chicken motif items that "might" be the start of a collection. I'll have to get a "Good" do-not-wear during lambing denim jacket to display patches on. I can't wait for my first patch, how does one join the sisterhood and get her patch? (I should go back and delve through the site better, probably find the answer dead in front of me)

Hi Annika, You didn't overlook it. We don't have it set up yet! We're going to have to mess with some serious software in the next few weeks in order to implement our official sisterhood plans. Stay tuned!!

Look for my new book, "MaryJane's Stitching Room," in bookstores now. Coming next in 2008: "MaryJane's Outpost Guidebook - for Cultivating Your Inner Wild." |

Dear Grace,
Thank you, also! Without those who resonate with an idea, the idea falls flat and goes nowhere. So my kudos go right back to all those who actualize these ideas...from MaryJane on out!
(And I agree, Sheryl-lyn, it's never too late to have fun and enjoy those things we didn't do when we were younger!)
Smiles and blue skies,
~Sunny
