My brother moved to a new house, and his new next-door neighbor had farm fresh eggs and brought him a basket as a housewarming gift, and told him if he ever needed more just hang the basket over the back fence. I was excited to find a new supplier and approacher her. She was willing to sell them to me for $1.00 a dozen, what a great price!
I was thrilled, and was buying them from her for about 10 weeks. Suddenly she doesn't answer tne phone, and she doesn't return my calls anymore.
I mentioned it to my brother. He says, well, it's probably because my niece-in-law (who lives with him) caused a rift. It seems the lady's goats got out of their fenced in pasture and came up on my brother's deck. They were there quite a while, at the flowers, made a mess. My niece-in-law called the lady and very nastily told her if she didn't come and get the goats she was going to call the sheriff.
Now, I was NOT INVOLVED in this transaction at all! And I don't have any bad feelings toward this person, in fact, I know that farm animals sometimes get out, goats in particular are rather resourceful.
So, what should I do? I'd like to keep buying eggs from her. Should I just drive over there and pretend like I don't know the goat story? Or leave a message saying I heard it and please don't mix me up with that rude girl?
Or just find another supplier? I bought organic eggs at the farmer's market a week ago and they were $3.00 a dozen!

I agree w/ Aimee.
You aren't involved. I'd bake the bread or cookies and go over.
Sure I'd be a little miffed too ,but when livestock is concerned, this kind of thing just happens.
Sounds like your nil handled it all wrong anyway |
