Ok what area's of the country have "snowballs"? Not the kind we ball up with frozen precipitation, no not all......

But the kind you make with a 16 oz. cup packed full of shaved ice then filled with a scrumptous syrupy sugar based flavoring like Egg Custard or Skylite.....or orange, cherry, batman, bart simpson, ninja turtle, black cherry, raspberry, lemon lime, the list goes on an on....

then topped with delishious creamy marshmallow that runs down the side and you gotta lick it off before it gets to your hands???

You got these yummy treats in your neck of the woods?

We do, and we are addicts......

I have always wanted my own snowball truck actually.

What would you call such a truck Lorna? one might ask.

Well being who I am and all, I would call it "Moose Joose" and the side would picture a Moose with a purple tongue eating a grape snowball! Too cute right.

Anyhow, my daughter was frequenting our local snowball stand and at $2 a pop was costing me an arm and a leg.....so..............

I went to the snowball supply house located in downtown Baltimore and got us a small residential ice shaver, and our two favorite flavors and a tub of marshmallow and we are now 5 pounds heavier but happier than ever! lol Jus kidding! But they are awesome! I am sitting here slurping on one now which is what prompted me to ask the question in my long winded manner......

Got snowballs?

Ahhhh..My family loves snowballs too. Can't have one without the marshmallow on top. I love egg custard the best. I also go to the ose Hawaiian shaved ice stands and get the tropical flavors. They are great! Where is that snowball supply house Lorna? I never heard of it.

I think they are called snow cones here because that is exactly how you make them.

Our snow cones are just ice with flavoring added. No marshmallow stuff. NEver had a snowball but it sure sounds good.

MMMmmmmm - we don't have "Snowballs" that I've seen here in Utah - just snowcones - no marshmallow creme. But you can bet that I'm going to put some on the next snowcone I have! It sounds so tasty!!!

XOXO, Libbie

We don't have snowballs, but "iceballs"--shaved ice with a HUGE scoop of homemade vanilla ice cream in the center, then your favorite syrup. I always stick with strawberry! There are two old fashioned soda/candy stores in Newport, Kentucky (Sweet Tooth Candies) and Dayton, Kentucky (Schneiders) that are famous for them in this area--that and opera creams

Never had the marshmallow on top, but I used to make the syrup for what we call 'snowcones' here. My brother put himself through college by running a small concession stand in a local park here in Louisville. I helped him, and when he gave it up, I took it over myself. I cooked hundreds of pounds of sugar/water on an old gas stove, flavored it and poured it into glass gallon jugs. I also hauled ice in 50 pound blocks and put them into a chest freezer. We had an ice crushing machine that sat on top and we crushed the ice into a deep plastic can sitting underneath. I still have that ice crusher! And my ice tongs. And all the other stuff(I will buy any interesting thing related to concession stuff I find....old ice picks, ice tongs, hand ice shaver, etc.) My concession days were the most fun I ever had! :D And the syrup was so thick and tasty! Not like the runny stuff today. :(

If you use the marshmallow fluff you buy at market, then you want to use hot water to thin it a bit.

Delish!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh gonna go make one now.
