Just finally got to read this post and boy did that photoshoot get you all worked up! I woould like to think that as people we are in a constant state of change, fine tuning and reworking to some degree. In another post about magazines we were all poking fun at the concept of raking in cashmere, shovelling the horse stalls in pearls. Here is another piece of propaganda meant to show us how inadequately we are doing it. I don't blame Madonna, it's just part of her evolution too. And as Susan said, I'm sure if presented with the opportunity we would find some common ground (most likely kids!)Hey! She's living inside a dream come true and we all know that they aren't always what we thought they would be. After all, she may live at the manor ; but to the manor born she was not. That must create an enormous sense of insecurity, and possibly self doubt.

And to end on a lighter note--Cecelia you had me really laughing with the mental image! I am going to take the high road and hope she has recycled those cone bras into lightning rods for the barn!

with a happy heart

I thought of another use for the cones. Wouldn't they be cute hung on the posts of a picket fence and filled with fresh bouquets of wildflowers?

OH MY! I just read all of this "to do" over Madonna and since I'm new to this I have one word to say...BRAVO!!! to each and everyone of you for responding from the place in your heart, where you are NOW, as YOU! What fun to read and see how images can move us and shake us initially and then to read how our perspective can change and soften by anothers perspective... or NOT. Drives home another point about us all...we are each an "original individual", even when grouped under one big heading of "farmgirl" and how we express our original self, no matter how different, it is just that....DIFFERENT...not good or bad. So I'm loving the mirrors other people (farmgirls and Madonna) provide for me to see myself and I'm thankful for the opportunities to extented to others that which i want for myself...ACCEPTANCE.

You are ALL...wonder-FULL and warm in my heart!

Clare, I totally agree with you about Madonna. We as women are here to support all women. Everyone has made mistakes of judgment in their lives. Who are we to cast the first stone? We all agree to disagree. I don't agree with a lot of things people have done, but Madonna's seems to be more Spiritual, Loving, Thoughtful, Caring, and Grounded. Children and age does make us see life in a new light.

One last comment on this from a bunch of guys I work with.they actually brought up the article about madonna and i shared with them some of our thoughts. my boss replied, "there is only one word you need to know to understand the whole article...MARKETING!"
so there you have it...a man's perspective! i have to admit to loving it when they can sum it all up it in one word, saves me the emotional drain. on the other hand, can get boring..........that's why we have girlfriends!!!

Kim, that is just what my DH said! He said the white dress was the draw...granted he is not a Madonna fan. He is pretty conservative and 50 years old, but the male perspective is interesting. DH is kind of the opposite of me actually. He said and I quote, " Maybe Madonna is finally cleaning up her act..." Hmmmm. I do tend to think motherhood and a level of contentment found through spirituality and looking into oneself can change a person. Also Madonna is in her late 40's now, and mortality can mellow one;s outlook on life! It sure has mine!

When I was a faux finisher/decortive painter in LA I had the chance to work at Madonna's house and meet her (this is such a common thing for this line of work in LA). And she is a very nice and very disconnected person. Her children seemed really happy but this is not the life I would want to live, the amount of security you have to go through to get in and out of her house in LA was horrible. If I were her I too would run away to the english country side. She is very, very much a business women and she will continue to change with the times (you don't have to meet her to see that) but it just goes to show that we farmgirls are becoming trendy. I think I read in MJ's book that farm vacations are the new popular vacation thing to do. The thing that I hope this trend does is cause more people to go towards an organic life style, that would a good trend for all of the world.

Blessed Be
