Thanks in advance.

Frannie Meshorer ran a tutorial on doll making some months ago and had a simple pattern she would send out for a SASE. Maybe she would do it again if enough requested it.

Susan, I just bumped up the Cabin Fever Doll Class thread from Frannie. If you want, I collated the actual instructions, and would email them or mail them to you, if you like. But if you have time, it is fun to read through the whole thread, as Frannie gives you lots of good info. Just let me know if you want me to email or mail the printed version. I've made several of these dolls - they are easy and fun and quick, and I am not a very good seamstress at all. Have fun! Judy

Hi dolly lovers! I stayed up an extra hour last night looking at the cloth doll class Frannie had last year...I loved it! My only suggestion to make a beginners simple doll is fatter arms and legs....maybe even shorter....just to make turning and stuffing easier....
the dress and pants pattern would still work the same. Simple dolls can also be made with only one or two pieces.
I have combined and altered doll patterns of many kinds. My favorite is soft and floppy while still able to sit alone.
(now to make a dolly to fit all of our mini- aprons...oops...that's another topic) LOL !

I started reading this topic and started digging. I am holding in my hands an Amish doll pattern complete with body and clothing pieces. (living here in Amish country with Amish neighbors this makes sense, right?) I purchased this book when I moved here for about $17 and it has the complete patterns and instructions for both 22" dolls (American Girl doll sized) and 15" dolls. The patterns for the clothing is also authentic. Needless to say the body pattern is very simple. If you would like me to copy this I would be more than happy to. Just let me know! Susan

After one of you wrote back to me, I found a couple of pages in this book stuck together and it states that no part of this book can be reproduced without explicit permission. However, I can tell you the name of the book and the author. It's called : Amish Doll Patterns, An Amish Family and Friends. And it is by Jan Steffy Mast. The cost is $16.95. I bought it in a material shop in Intercourse a few years back. It has patterns, clothing, and information about the Amish for women, men, girls, and boys. It is well worth what it costs.

My daughter and my new grandson are doing fine. Thanks for asking. She moves this Friday.....Labor Day Weekend!

Here is where the book was made.

Amish Doll Patterns: An Amish Family and Friends
2001 Good Books, Intercourse, Pa. 17534

I'm sorry I didn't think about looking more closely at this point. I was just so excited when I found all these patterns to share with you! Susan
