So, what size did you end up with? I saw those bias tape makers in 1/4, 1/2, 3/4, 1, and 2 inch sizes. They were about $6 each--what size would be the best to get for apron bias tape?

i use the 1 inch for aprons. the table is 1 inch and so when you fold it over the edge, it comes out to 1/2 inch and i like the way that looks.

Great job on the Stitching!
BTW I got a bias tape maker. They were on sale for $1.50 each at hobby lobby. I havent tried them yet. One day when I feel like it is cool enough to iron.

All dritz notions were 50% off.... SO i got one of each. I still have not used them yet.... but one day I will. I have this red polka dot fabric that I think would make very cute Bias tape. I only wish that they had one for the 1/8" size. I think that size bends and lays the smoothest.

Kathie!!! I did it! I've overcome my fear of bias tape!!!! I found my problems, too.
#1.In too big a hurry
#2 Too lazy to press first-related to problem #1
#3. I was sewing too quickly also
The narrow foot also added to even stitches and smoothe lines. Tnx for all the encouragemnent!!

Elizabeth, I peeked on your website and saw that you're from Columbus. Where's there a Hobby Lobby there? (we're new to the area). I know there's one in Dayton, but we go to Columbus more. Thanks! |

Sheila, There are 3 Hobby lobby's in columbus. The one on W Broad Street and Georgiasville road has the best clearance fabric section. The others at typically pretty picked over and dont have much... but the west side location has the good stuff. Then Joanns is just around the corner.

I use double faced quilting tape to hold the bias tape in place. It works really well and makes a nice clean stitch.

I think the bias tape I got has a front and back side. The front side is just a little thinner than the back side, so that way you can get close to the edge on the front and it will definitely catch on the back. It's a very small difference, but it helped. This bias tape was made by Wright's. Also when I started out, I was using a very very small stitch. I'm using one just a bit longer, and trying to go really slow so I can do a straight line. |

Cristine that's it EXACTLY!! The wide side DOES go on the back!! Sor But you've got it exactly right!! That way you'll ALWAYS catch the back piece!! GOOD for You Sweet Pea!!

I was afraid someone would ask me about the fabric! The prints are so adorable BUT , beneath every print is a cigarette advertisement. My age is showing here- but I purchased it from Hancocks one day when I didn't have my glasses on. It was supposed to be the backing for my grandson's quilt!
Somehow I didn't think that would be a very good idea- so in the stash it went!!! It is a Robert Kaufman print-several years old. That's my story and I'm stickin to it!! Autumn
