Well, I have learned that no amount of reading can make up for just pure experience when it comes to raising animals, but I am looking for a good book for my sister-in-law. She wants to get a jersey cow soon and has no idea where to start. I was thinking I would get her a book for her birthday coming up this week that might help her get started. Can anyone recommend a good read with useable information that I could get for her? Thanks!

Oh, Molly - a Jersey!!! I was so fortunate to be able to get Aunt Jenny's cow, Mona's, Jersey calf. Jenny recommended a book to me that I just LOVE. It's called "Keeping a Family Cow" by Joann Grohman, and I really use it a lot. I hope that helps!
XOXO, Libbie

Thanks for the suggestion. I went straight to Amazon and ordered it up! Looks like a good one! Congratulations on the calf-- Evelyn, right? I saw pictures of her on a thread a while back; she is lovely.
