Hi Everyone!

I have been using Fed-Ex ground and so far they have been extremely reliable and for the most part very fast. I have only had 2 times where they were slower or had any issues at all and Fed-Ex worked with me to get them fixed ASAP. Also they are much cheaper than the USPS.

You can set up an online account and if you give other's your Fed-Ex account # they can ship things to you and you can pay the postage. Things that were costing well over $20 with the USPS cost only about $8-10 at Fed-Ex and they don't bash your stuff around. I have only had Fed-Ex break one item as compared to over 15 broken bottles with USPS.

Just a question. Is it safe to give others your account number? Couldn't they ship stuff to other people and then charge it to you?

This sounds like a great idea for people who live in town. I live VERY rural so there is no fedex or ups place where I live. My only option is USPS. I wish I could do that though!

Julie-

If you ship a lot you can set it up so a courier comes to your house to pick up packages. It does cost a little more- but might be worth it to save in gas. Also I would only ever give my account # to someone I trusted. That is something that each person could decide for themselves.

With Fed Ex, if they have an account set up, you can bill to the receiver's FedEx acct. number by just writing it on the mailing label. Our office used to get them preprinted with the account numbers and we'd often send the account number for returning items or for sending stuff to us. Since there has to be a return address on the label, at least you can track it if someone misuses your account no. (provided they used a real address.)

I collect "made in belgium" bottles, some people call them bubble tops...there are actually several names for them. But as I have found different people around the country with them, I have had them shipped to me in many many different ways. I have found that fed ex is very good about not breaking them, and where available, dhl is safe fast and very reliable. They p/u at your door and drop off by the time you are told...and the couriers are very friendly. And you can set up your account in a very similar way to fed ex. But you are very right Alee...fed ex is very careful with fragile packages.

I'll have to pass this along to my son-in-law. He is a supervisor at FedEx. He'll be glad to know some people are happy with the service. I know he takes a lot of abuse from some customers.

Sherri- Also pleae tell him that the one time they did break a bottle they were amazing about the claims service as well. They have by far exceeded my expectations and I am very happy with them. The drop off locations have all been really nice about helping me carry boxes and taping one up for me at no charge (Which USPS will only do if it is priority), fragile stickers- the works.
