I had an aunt who used baking soda on her teeth always and she had all her own teeth when she passed away at the age of 84.

I told my dentist that I use peroxide as a rinse and he didn't see a problem, I do not always rinse with water afterward but I don't use to much either. As with everything else I think using things safely and in moderation is the key.

Peroxide must stay in a brown bottle (or at least one that doesn't let in light) or it becomes ineffective...learned that working at the vet

Another good use for peroxide - if you keep water in bottles (our tap water tasted so bad in Las Vegas that we had to go to the water store before we got our own reverse osmosis system) you can rinse them with water and a bit of peroxide between uses to keep them from getting algae. Bleach does the same thing but leaves that awful flavor and smell, while peroxide doesn't. Our dog has a water dish with a big plastic bottle attached to it, so I rinse it with peroxide before I fill it. (Yes, he is kind of spoiled.)

Rosemary,

Tell me all about the no peroxide in the nose thing.

Oh brother!!

I tried this undiluted (stupid me) and boy, I'll NEVER do that again!!!! Aside from the pain, yes my nose was "all clean" but gads, that hurt.

I use peroxide in the laundry too along with baking soda for those extra smelly/dirty loads.

So cheap, so easy

A dentist told my DH to mix 1 part Lavoris with 1 part hydrogen peroxide to use as mouthwash because of gum problems. Rise with water afterward.
