I know this is a strange item to be looking for here, but I figured it's worth a shot. My dd's school does not have any foreign language classes (it's a very small rural school), but she took a year of Spanish at her previous high school. She knows she'll have to take a foreign language in college (she's already checked at the college she'll be attending) and she wants to try to study and not forget everything she's learned. I'd also love to learn Spanish because I hope to go on some mission trips there again. I looked at Barnes & Noble and at Amazon, and I really can't afford one at full price either place.

So . . . does anyone here have a book or book/CDs for learning Spanish that they are done with and would be willing to sell or swap?

btw, has anyone used a particular program that they would recommend or that you would say to stay away from?

patti, I don't have one that I have used, but have you checked your library if it is close? I know ours had some cd's for learning another language. Just an idea & it's free.

Yes, I checked my library and although they didn't have it, the librarian said they'd put it on their "wish list". I didn't even think of online tutorials! Thanks for the suggestion -- I'll have to check that out after I get the bathroom and hall painted. I just put the primer on and am taking a break :)

Patti,
Send me your mailing info off list and I'll get some off to you. I've bought several for my grandson when he was taking spanish classes and they're easy to find here...being so close to CA, speaking spanish makes life much easier. I've forgotten much of what I knew working in restaurants. Just had a funny memory..when I worked for RJ Reynolds tobacco company, they hired one guy to work the hispanic neighborhoods in SoCA. We had lunch one day and he told me he was from Cuba and his spanish was light years away from Mexico spanish, but he didn't tell the company and ruin his chance for the job.

If you go to itunes.com you can get forign language podcasts that are free. You don't even have to have an iPod because you can listen to them right on your computer!
