My old job called me in a panic. They are having two people unexpectedly leave and they need a short term replacement for about 2 weeks. They were so awesome to be during my pregnancy and they are good people. So I agreed to help them out just for the two weeks until the one girl gets back from seeing her parents (they live in Hawaii and she just found out she is pregnant with her first).
So I am going to have to leave Nora with a babysitter for the first time! Ahhh! I don't want to! Her babysitter is a really great friend of Doug and I's and she has two great kids. I know she will take great care of Nora while Doug and I are at work...but.. but... She's my baby!
Oh well, we can use the money because some unexpected financial things have come up, and I want to help repay the hotel for being so wonderful to me. Nora will probably have tons of fun hanging out with the other kids.
Usually I won't be working more than 4-5 hours and only a few days a week (like 3), but this first day another lady has to be gone for a family issue so I will be working 7 hrs! Oh my gosh! I don't know if I will make it! I am hoping it will be a really slow day and I can duck out early! LOL
Wish me luck! Here's hoping I don't bawl my eyes out!

| Good luck with that Alee - and don't cry = you'll be back to your sweetie before you know it. At least now we know what Doug was saving that breast milk for when he tried to get Nora to take formula! |

Oh honey hugs to you. Nora is a sweetie and will do fine. You may have a tougher time but you will do fine. You are a great mommie, give her lots of kisses when you get home.

No way you can take her with and wear her in the sling? IF not it will be ok - just keep pumping while at work to keep your milk up. Drink lots of fluids. Perhaps try looking for bottles that are more work than regular nipples - Playtex nursers are good and or La Leche Leaque has some that are shaped liked breasts - cut down on the nipple confusion.

Thanks for the suggestions Holly. She has been doing really great with the bottles of breast milk that we have given her in the past. She doesn't seem to suffer from nipple confusion, thank goodness! I really wish I could take her with, but I don't think that would work. Oh well. We can all do just about anything for 2 weeks right? And it is good Karma to pay back all the kindness they showed me while I was pregnant.
I just have to keep reminding myself that she will be well looked after, and that she will probably enjoy the socialization.

Nope, I have to stay on the premise for lunch in case they need me, but the good news is that they feed me lunch for free!

Alee Honey, there is so much good that can come out of this.
You get some extra money.
You maintain your contacts in case you need them again in the future.
Nora gets to "socialize" with other adults and older kids and develop her flexibility, independence, and learn from the older kids.
You get to have conversations with adults. Yippee!
It was difficult when I left my baby at daycare for the first time, and shed some tears, but my girls do great in the environment and have little friends and learning opportunities that I couldn't give them at home, and other adults who think they are beautiful, smart and funny and love-em up.
I wasn't born in a barn, but I was raised in one. |
