Thank you for the links...I'm thinking that one of these will be good for me to try. Now, let me ask another question...are you sewing these by hand or on a machine?
On my lunch hour I will go to the fabric store and have a look...fallcolors...right? I wanted to do some sort of a star...you know for Texas and I seem to have stars everywhere. I'm concerned that I might have problems with the points...so I will save that idea for next time.
Later, Julia

Thanks for adding me girls I wouldn't wanted to have missed out!
If we are doing 15 I will do two too! As you only have 13 names if you dont't fill the spots. So then it will be 14 and if one more does it then thats 15. Let me know ok. as I am undrstanding from threads we are doing 15 but that's not what page one says. So I would get two sets correct?
Thanks for thinking of me Clare

Sheryl-lyn, you are doing such a great job inspiring us with those links. Thank you for taking the time to post those. I even see one block I might do. I've had my mind set on one I've done before, but I may try this one out first and see which one I like better.

Does this look like an easy one to you? My sewing...well, I can make a apron...nothing fancy...a few very easy skirts and dresses...I can sew a straight line...

Sheryl-lyn,
I won't be able to participate in this. I'm sorry, I hope it doesn't mess up the count for the blocks.

certainly someone will fill your spot, if there is extra room at the end sheryl, i will take the spot...so i would do 2 sets of blocks. But, if someone else signs up, by all means let them have it!!!

Julia,
If I may put my two cents in...
If you do wash it, wash and press before you cut.
I make it a habit of washing all fabric after I purchase it. But like Jessica said, it really is not neccessary.

I have been reading the basics of Quilting in the back of one of the many, many magazines out there about quilting...oh, and the books, my goodness...soooo many...some say to wash and press before cutting...some say that some quilter don't wash before cutting and stiching because they like the way the fabric puckers a little after it's all finished and washed...give it that older, homeier(sp?)look and feel. I'm trying to gather all of the informantion that I can...cuz, Saturday morning, bright and early I will start this new adventure. Do you all cut with scissors or do you use that roller wheel thing?
Sorry to be such a bother...there are just so many things that I am not sure about...

I use my trusty rotary cutter because that is what I learned with, and btw Julia, keep asking cause when you first get started they are gobs of questions to be asked. I still ask them and I have been at this only 5 years.......
So proud of you for trying this and jumping in, you go girl~!!!!!!!

Enjoying life.

Julia, try and break this down into manegable steps so you don't get overwhelemd. I will cut one day, sew over a few days or more. It depends on how it flows. Some blocks you can do assmebly style where you do all the same step with each block and then move on to the second step with each block. This saves time and thread. If you are unsure though, try and make one whole block start to finish to feel comfortable with each step before doing assembly line work.

Sheryl-lyn,
I have a question. Ok we are to make 15 blocks. Are we to send you 14 blocks and keep one for ourself? Or are we to make 16 and send you 15 because you are going to swap all 15 so we each get back 15 different blocks. Because with 16 blocks we will have at the least a 4x4 quilt top with out boarders.
Have I confused everyone yet? Or is it just me. Most likely me. I tend to confuse myself sometimes.
