pin all the seams at the corners to begin with feed as according if the bottom is to long in spots the feed dogs will pull in a little slack if you hold the top part taught. If to much slack int he top part between pins pull taught both pieces and stitch slowly and this will feed it in evenly.

the corners I was referring to are the small corner blocks of the quilt that way you are checking every block that things are lined up

I don't use pins but if you have problem best to use them. I finger pin. Which means the next set of seams that have to line up I match up ( seams are almost always facing opposite directions so they nest well) then hold that and gauge it when I am half way to it if I have to feed in excess to or bottom or if it is lined up well.

yep that was my prervious method, but since i am always off, i am going to try pinning..if that doesnot work, then it is meant wor me to have uneven block spacing..i am not going to lose sleep over it. yours however look marvelous!!

Hey that turned out beautiful too!

Jess pins do help line up uour seams but also your ruler could be sliding when cutting. There is no such thing as a perfect quilt anyway. I am not a perfectionist so I usually live with my mistakes when I get that far unless I notice before piecing them together. A quarter inch foot also helps to keep everything accurate.

Oh poor girl belive me I would if I could but I can't so I won't. You need to get together with some girls in your hood. Thats what I did when I started out. Just have fun with it. Once you are relaxed with the process it comes out much better I find.

oh yes dont worry about me I have done several and I have peeps that I do it with, not on a reg basis though. i am just challenged mathmatically, and you all are very friendly about mistakes.

Even if I was having a cup of java and sewing with you I would be just as relaxed some I sewed with made me feel nothing was right. But its all a confidence thing in yourself!

Oh Sunshine!! That looks great! I cannot wait to get mine together now.

Jess: It's never perfect when you are working with fabric. A little stretching here and there and if you iron as you go, that can stretch too. Also, the cutting could be a little off here and there. Oh, and the stitching can go off by the littlest bit, and let's see what else I have had go wrong without even realizing it...

My attitude is, "Oh, well. Pull it a little and pin if you have to and it will still be gorgeous and WARM!!" Then I sometimes cut all the blocks to match when I am done with them (only if they are really off by a 1/2 inch or more.

This is my hobby, I don't need something else to bring on stress and I am sure you feel the same. If your costumes are any indicator of how your finished product comes out, then I am totally jealous!

Sunshine, beautiful job on your quilt top. Now I feel motivated to work on mine, maybe this weekend. I got my fabric and just need to lay out the blocks and cut the sashing and cornerstones. I think my kids will help me lay them out. I can go at my own pace after that. Love the orange color for your border.

I finished the top of the fall block swap. I will post pictures when it gets a bit warmer. I like to hang on the clothes line for photo, and it is way too cold today for that.

Clare, that is gorgeous! I am putting my winter one together this week. Not sure I will get to quilting it right away (I hope to though). You make me want to zip it up tonight! Maybe I will.
