Can't wait to see them Kathy!! Back to work today for me, but it was a good day, so all is well. I am giving out lunch detentions a lot already though for kids who are late to class (our building is soooo tiny and the kids are here forever, so getting lost along the way is not an option) or who have not done homework. Silly rabbits! Well, hopefully it will only happen once or twice and they will not do it again.

Yeah, I guess I am the meanie sometimes, but hey...I still smile while I am handing out detention slips:) Good thing for them that this is 2007 and a little ruler smacking is not allowed! (ok, yes, I did get smacked with a ruler and a paddle a few times myself as a child in school)

Cannot wait to see your blocks Jess!! We will all be done very soon then! Maybe by the weekend I can package them and send them off on my broom...

Hi everyone! Got three more packages today! Sunshine's, Kathy H., and Merle!! They are all so lovely and they all go together! You will love them ladies, I promise. Getting my broom tuned up and then they will be on their way. Just waiting for Jess and they will be here before I know it too.

I am assuming that Cabinmoose is not in the swap since I have not heard from her at this point. I will just return an extra one of your own to you if I do not get an email from her or a package soon. I did send an email and have been asking if anyone else has heard from her.

It is so nice seeing these blocks all together! You will love them so much.

Dear Farmgirls,
I was in a 12" quilt block swap and I really loved it. There was an emergency in my family that required a rice filled heating pad at once. I took two of the quilt blocks that I had received and used a design to be filled with rice. It was such a hit that I have made many since. I know that that is not what we should use them for, but it was a perfect sized heating pad. You just put them into the microwave for 1 1/2 minute and it stays hot for 20 minutes.

That sounds awesome and since I have a neck that bothers me often, I will make one of those!

Jess: You are not last really! I just finished and I did not even have to mail mine! LOL So pretend I have to mail them tomorrow and then I will be last.

Now, does it matter what kind of rice you use for that? I don't want to cook it when I heat it up!

No, but if you use rice sometimes it gets kind of a burnt smell after a whle and it can go bad if moisture gets in. Try flax seed it lasts much longer and works out better in the end. I use them a lot for women in labor, pregnancy, and post pardom.

Sheryl-lyn,
Just keep the extra block for yourself. Do not return it to me.
Oh, and remember, I said I would host a winter themed block. I think it should be the same idea as this Fall theme swap. Keep and eye out for my post.

Thanks Kathy! I love the blocks and will be happy to keep an extra! I already signed up for your swap. Can't wait!

I will use flax seed, Jess. Sounds great. Just put enough in there to make it full, but wiggly? Does that make sense?

Sherly,
I was reading about the microwave heating pad.
Now I know that NJ is the "Garden State" but where would i find flax seed. I have in the past used rice. And yes sometimes it would smell like cooked rice. Would I need to go to a feed and seed? I have never seen it in a craft store.

Kathy,
You can find flax seed in some grocery stores in the section where they sell organic or natural foods. If not try a health food store. Most of them have it. Do you have a Shoprite near you? We have them here so I thought you might too.
