I know it is a little early, but I was thinking that we could start this thread now to make sure we all agree on size, etc.
I was thinking 12 inch blocks this time so we can make a lap quilt when we are done. I have a few links to great sites that have tons to choose from.
The fabrics will be fall colors.
How about a deadline of September 15? You send me your blocks with another envelope addressed to yourself with the same amount of postage inside the package.
Should we limit to 12? I could do more if you want. Let me know!
Here is a link to block patterns. You have to scroll to the bottom of the page and there is a list of blocks and their sizes.

how many would we each need to make of these? I've never done a quilt block swap but would love to.

So far I am thinking that there would be about 12 of us which means 12 blocks each. How does that sound? |

Ok, I am up for this. I think the deadline is a good one so they can be swapped back out while it is still fall.
I would say 12-15 blocks to make maximum.

That sounds good to me. Any more than 15 and it will be a big chore and we don't want that. |

No worries, Sunshine. You had a lot on your plate and most of us were running late on that one anyway! :) |

I think we are at 10 people so far. I will not go past 15 for this one, but will be happy at 12 as well. I'll leave it open for a week or two longer and that will be enough time I'm sure! |

Julia, I will be more than happy to help you. Go to the link and choose a block that finishes to 12 inches (unfinished will be 12 1/2),then if you need more help, let me know. Everyone here is helpful and talented, so someone will hop on to assist anyone!
I will be away until Tuesday, but will try to check in from time to time if I can (computers are not always available were I will be in Vermont). The mountains are calling me!! |

OK...I'm really new at this. Can you tell me the name of one of the easiest blocks? I did look at the link above...lots of 12 inch blocks...I want to do this...I am worried that I might make a mess...
So this will be 12 12 inch blocks? |

Julia, take a depth breath, you can do this. Make one block so you know how it goes together. Just keep breathing. Will go look at blocks and check back. Carol Sue

Okay, not sure which one would be easy for you. Which one did you like? Also do you have a libary close to you? A great resource for quilting and the basics. Let me know. Carol Sue

Julia, I do not know how much sewing experience you have. If you can find a mentor, then you could do a more complicated block. If not, try something with simple shapes such as squares and rectangles for pieces. You might want to do a simple nine patch or a double four patch or even rail fence if this is your first exchange with quilt blocks.

Sunshine: You can do two. I will close us at 15 if Cinnamongirl wants in. I will count her in now and she can back out if she wants to later. |
