I don't know how Sky got hurt, but I noticed that she has been licking her paw a lot lately. She also hasn't wanted me to touch them. So today while she was nice and sleepy I dug around in her paw and found a scabby spot between her pads. I had to clip the fur to see the skin. It looks a little extra pink to me, but I am going to have to clip the fur on her other paw to see if it really is pink (infected). It isn't wet or oozing, but there is scab where you can see that she did bleed. I feel so bad for her. I am going to buy some epsom salts and soak her paw for a few days to see if that helps. Since she doesn't have a seeping infection I don't think I will take her to the vet just yet.

Oh poor Sky, do you think she could have gotten a blackberry thorn by chance?
Just a thought, or those rottttten yellowjackets.
Give her a hug for me, Carol Sue

It's possible. Or she could have slipped on a rock. There doesn't seem to be anything imbedded in the wound. I am sure she will be fine- I just feel bad for her. :(

Poor baby. I don't know what to tell you about her paw except, like you said, the epsom salts and plain ol' time.

I never thought about blackberry thorns doing damage to paws. We have oodles of BB's all over the place but we don't let our Doxies out that much. But there are some growing around the water faucet. It seems the BB's will grow just about anyplace. At first I thought they were rose bushes!

Hugs to Sky!

I'm sorry about Sky, Alee--
Our Rose cuts her foot every once in a while on our rock path. She RUNS really fast, and at 115 lbs, she really digs in to the earth. I do the same thing--and, to her annoyance, I put neosporin on it (the vet said it was fine) and a baby sock.

I hope Sky's foot is better soon. I can't imagine walking around all day on a sore foot!

The funny thing is that she hasn't acted hurt- but that's my Sky-Dog for you. One time she had one of those whisker hairs in her eye and I didn't even know until it was so infected it was starting to swell shut- she just doesn't seem to get upset by physical discomfort.
