I have pre ordered this one through amazon.... I cant wait until it gets here.
I was thinking about taking Peanut to one of the book parties at the book store... I think he would have a blast!
Anyone else excited about the last book? I cant believe this is the last one!
Maybe we should have a Harry Potter swap to celebrate the last book.

I will be at Barnes and Noble at midnight on the 20th. We have gone to each event for the past four books. I have never pre-ordered one, because I love the quizzes and costume contests (no, I don't dress up.) and games they have. And just before midnight, there is the big countdown. I do believe that my family has outgrown all the excitement. They have not expressed any interest in going with me. :( They will be sorry, I'm sure!

I pre-ordered my book and will pick it up at midnight at the local Chapters. I'm even taking the next day off work so I can read all night long! Nothing could be better than curling up when all is dark and quiet with an amazingly good book. I'm so looking forward to it!
Right now I'm knitting furiously to get my Slytherin scarf done to wear to the movie (yay for 3D IMAX!) and to the midnight party at Chapters. There is a great book out now called "Charmed Knits" that has tons of Harry Potter inspired knitting projects, it's definitely going on my birthday list.
I'd love love love to do an HP swap - anyone care for some lemon sherbets? *grin*

Oh Catherine, except for the handmade purple crushed velvet cape, you and I have the exact same HP schedule over the next two weeks!
The independent bookstore in my town is having a party beginning at 10 that night (though I likely won't be going that early, as it will be mainly kiddos at that point), but I'll be there before midnight to enjoy the costumes and get in line (my book is already ordered and paid for!); then my husband and I are heading to our town's little movie theater this Friday night to see OOTP. It's an exciting yet bittersweet time in the world of HP, imo...I've heard so many rumors and so much speculation about book 7...

Laluna! It gets even better since we'll both be reading our books in New York! I escape on a plane (just hours after picking up my midnight book) to the Adirondacks where I hope my in-laws and dear husband won't mind doing all of the childcare work until I finish the book. I've never been to the Adirondacks, so I'm hoping to finish the book fast enough to actually be able to look up and admire the mountains once or twice. :)

Yep, waiting on pins & needles for Book 7. I just finished re-reading book 6, 2 days ago, and right now I'm reading a book titled _The End of Harry Potter?_ by David Langford (the unauthorized guide to the mysteries that remain) It's pretty interesting, gives some real insights into the "secret" meanings behind some of the names in the book, details the mysteries still to be solved in book 7.... Very cool
I also pre-ordered from Amazon.com, but being in Alaska, the book won't get here till Monday the 23rd at the very soonest (and even then it's unlikely that it'll be here that quickly). A bunch of coworkers & I are waiting till next weekend to go see the movie together, rather than trying to squeeze into a packed theater this weekend. I'm trying to get my friends to dress up to go to the movie. I want to, but I don't want to be the only one. Not thinking of pretending to be any 1 character specifically, but I've got enough scarves, shawls, sarongs & baubles & beads that I could probably pull off a pretty convincing random witch. (And a couple of hats hanging around, as well.)
Blessings. --Kati |

I adore Harry Potter! I can't wait until the book comes out. I have a pretty good idea what will happen in it- but I am going to love sitting and reading! I haven't read much since Nora was born, but HP is going to be one that I do sit down and read. Housework can wait...do you think I can convince Nora to sleep extra long? LOL Just kidding.

I can't wait ! We are going to see the movie today! I will be at the midnight party next week.My mom told me that they are trying to get J.K. to write another one and she is considering it. Wouldn't that be great? I got the Charmed Knits book last week as a surprise. Now I am thinking up ways to get all the yarn I need to make presents. Mandi

Went to see OOTP last night - such a great movie! The kids have all really grown as actors, and while they obviously had to edit the story for the sake of time, I thought they did a pretty seamless job of it (i.e. my husband, who's never read the books, thought it was great and didn't have any problems following the storyline - of course, he's seen the previous four films ;-)
At any rate, it just made me look forward to the final book even more! |

Less than 12 hours to go here, as I'm heading to my local independent bookseller at about 11:30 tonight to get my copy at midnight-oh-1
I'm definitely not a night-owl, so I may have to catch some zzzz's before heading over there, then I'll be up bright and early to start reading! Do you realize future generations of HP readers/fans will never know this kind of anticipation, since the ending will already be known?
Happy reading!! |

I pre-ordered one for my 9 yr old, it won't be here till the 23rd, and since she has read all 6 so far atleast 4 times each, my husband is out waiting in line for one for her tonight...31 more minutes!!! I will wake her and surprise her if he makes it home with one. I am sure she will have it finished and dissected by weekend's end! Happy Reading to all of you who are fans, and it will be a quiet day while everyone is busy reading!! |

Hey Harry fans, We had our HP book launch event, but of course it is 7.01 in the morning here that the book is launched. My girls both entered the colouring competition at our local book cafe and both won! This gave us a ride to the party on the Knight Bus and free entry to the HP book launch and breakfast. Then once we arrived, the best dressed character was judged - they got to open the box and keep the first book. And my youngest daughter won that - she was Professor Trelawney. I think as most kids were HP or Hermione, she won just for being something different! I'll post some pics when I get a chance. So they were over the moon with themselves! I am reading the book to them, so we are up to chapter three so far. Hopefully no one at school will ruin it - last time someone told my daughter who the Half-Blood Prince was when we were only halfway through! I am very tempted to steal the book from their room after they go to bed and read it! But I think it will be good to read it slowly, as this is it!! Best wishes, Jayne |

Out the door in oh....about 40 minutes! Going into town this morning to pick up 3 copies! They will sit on the kitchen table until Hannah comes home from work at noon and then the marathon will begin. We will all read at the same time, calling out when we are at the end of a chapter. If one must stop for some reason, then we all stop. We then resume when all are ready. It is just how we have done it since the beginning of the series. When all of us are finished, we will then begin the discussions! We each have our favorites…I love the first and 5th books. Rachel loves #2. Hannah #6. None of us love Harry! I am very attached to the Weasley Family. The kids think it because it reminds me of our family! We are sort of a cross between the Weasleys and the Addams! I love the burrow ~ especially the kitchen!

We are going out after chores today to get a copy. I get to read it first, since one son is still reading #6 (almost done) and oldest daughter is out of town. Youngest daughter will get it next...she is READY and a quick reader...then we may have to flip a coin to see who gets it after that. I love the Weasleys too.

I have never read any of the Harry Potter books. I was watching on the news last night at all the people waiting until midnight to get their books. They all looked like they were having so much fun! Guess I better get the others from the library and read them. Then stay off the internet so I won't know what happens in this last one.

*grumble* Amazon says mine still hasn't shipped and I'm not likely to get it till between July 31 and Aug 1st. Sure as heck hope I don't stumble across any spoil-sports or spoilers, because I certainly won't be LOOKING for them.

I have all the others on order from the library. I even put a hold on the new one but my hold is number 366!!! As soon as I finish the the first ones I'll probably buy the new one if it doesn't come into the library. I'm not reading this thread any more because I don't want to know what happens in the last book!
