Well, I am on page 140. Part of me wants to read this one slowly since it is that last book. Parts of me whats to lock myself in a room.... and just read it.
I have so much work to do.... Work first.... If I need to pour 7 batches of soap this morning.... then I can read some more when the boys go to bed.

I picked the book up friday at midnight and read all day on Saturday and finished it(took the day off especially!). It was an enjoyable read, though Harry has never been my favourite character. I disliked the epilogue with a passion but overall there were some great moments when I cheered, and I admit, I did cry once..
Can't wait til more finish. Happy reading ladies!

@Meg - I won't say I disliked the epilogue with a "passion," but it was definitely my least favorite part of the book; it felt very contrived to me. And I was actually quite moved at one point as well, though it completely caught me by surprise because it wasn't something that I thought would have made me weepy (p.476-477).
And re: a book 8, I had heard that the fans were petitioning JKR to write one but that she has said no. |

I've been reading as much as my two and four year old will let me. So far I really like it. I want to drag it out, I will be so sad when it is all over!
Meg, I have a little something for you that I had hoped to get to you before the book was released but haven't made it. I'll try to get it to you this week. As another snape fan I'm sure you'll appreciate it. I'm still holding out hope that he is one of the good guys.... |

Laluna, *grin* I guess 'passion' was a bit strong. But it could have ended so well at the end of the last chapter even the last line was great. Such a feeling of finality and yet hope for the future. The epilogue read like bad fanfiction I've read, Eep! I've got the canadian edition so the page numbers are different. What chapter was it that got to you? Megan, how wonderful! I would love a little surprise. I am a big Snape fan and definitely always believed that he was always good (or at least always Dumbledore's man) throughout the whole thing. I really liked the Malfoys throughout the book. They really do love each other in their own way.

I work at a local library, and started the book at work...it was reserved, but I was hoping the person wouldn't come in to get it so I could read it Sunday and return it before we opened on Tuesday...no such luck!!! I got to page 173 and had to hand it over! I am next on the reserved list...I hope they hurry!!! Kelly

I finished it last night..two of my kids are "share reading it now". If Erin puts it down, Travis can read it..they have two bookmarks in it. It is really her turn, but no one can stand to see it just sitting there not being read.

I finished it last night. I enjoyed it. I could not figure out the patronus and so at the end I liked who that was, etc.
I liked the Hallows stuff.
I'm so glad that I read all the books over the years. It was fun to do it as she went along. The suspense was great. The younger generation will just see the movies. Oh well.

I think the extra book should be really interesting. JK has said for a while that she would write that when HP was finished. Apparently she has whole histories for every character, even the most minor, so that when they appear in the books, they will always speak and act according to their character. Does that make sense? I can't wait to read Snape's whole history. We are only up to chapter five now. I am being really good and not reading ahead, although I really wanted to look at pages 476-477 when they were mentioned! But I resisted temptation! Best wishes, Jayne |

alrighty...got it Thursday night(didnt start reading though til 10)...just finished the last hundred pages in the past 1 1/2 - 2 hours...woulda finished yesterday afternoon but told mom I'd help her with some sewing.... wow...I think she rounded off the series pretty well...Though I am disappointed the whole series is over, I think it couldnt have gone on much longer, not without people getting bored with all the narrow escapes, etc etc....She ended it nicely, didnt drag it on, and didnt end it upruptly...now to see the most recent movie... cheers, ~N~

I finished yesterday and loved it. I'm sad it is over but I think the way she tied in everything was brilliant. So many details from books past that made their way back into the story. Totally cried at pages 476-477 and was probably most moved by the whole silver doe story. (don't want to give away anything for those not finished) And how much does Mrs weasley rock! Loved that! |

I was one of crazies that stood in line! I read most of the night, took a three hour nap and finished on Saturday at 2 in the afternoon. Absolutely loved it! I cried buckets, but then I cry easily. I think JK did a great job and I liked the epilogue. I would like to see a "History of Hogwarts" and I heard she is thinking of doing one. I am sad the saga is over, but I look forward to the next two movies. |

Finished my book last night and am starting on it again today. With a book that size and so many details, I always reread it to catch what I missed the first time around. I've read each book over and over. I couldn't believe the book was only $18 something at Walmart. Couldn't pass that up. I wasn't surprised that Snape was the good guy, but I didn't see it coming the reason he was. Big surprise. I've never cried at a book before, but this one did it.
