| I just saw a commercial for Skittles candy involving a nasty older man and a milking machine. Has anyone else seen this? Do you think that maybe it is a bit too creppy to be shown on family channels during children's programming. |

Eww- I haven't seen it but it just sounds like it couldn't be too good. I have noticed that a lot of commercials are getting really weird and out of hand lately. I have always hated commercials as I try to not subscribe to a materialistic lifestyle, but lately I have just been completely non-plussed.

I have not seen it either. The older I get the less TV I watch and when I do, I am always amazed at what I see.

I've seen it and although I consider myself REALLY open-minded, I found it in extremely poor taste. For those who haven't seen it; this young man asks why the milk is so sour, and this guy leaning back in a chair with a milking machine attached to his chest/stomach pops some super-sour Skittles candy in his mouth. I don't care for milk personally, but this commercial turned my stomach even more.

That sounds bizarre and I don't get it. I get the connection between the milk being sour although ewwww! but, How does this make me want to buy skittles? Not that I would. I think advertiser are going for shock value so much lately that they have totally forgotten what they are selling!

Don't even own a TV...haven't since the 1980's...I just didn't want my childrens creativity and imagination warped. Even the good shows are bad for children...much better to read to them and have them imagine what the princess or whatever character looks like then to have a disney or other adult created impression stamped on their mind forever! I confess though I would love to watch cooking shows and the Tour de France on TV!

We don't get the same ads here, but I agree with Mandi - can't quite understand how something like that would sell candy. Surely it wouldn't appeal to kids (who advertisers always seem to be targetting) and adults would just think it was gross. I think advertisers are losing their grip on reality!! Best wishes, Jayne |

I haven't seen this one, thank goodness. Write to them and tell them how much their commercial bothered you. If enough people do it, they'll get the message.

I haven't seen that one, but did see the Trojan commercial with the pigs-utterly disgusting! I wonder what society is coming to. It's not just commercials- television programming in general is getting really disturbing.

Skittles.com actually has the ad spot called "Stable" if you check out their advertising link. I took the opportunity to let them know I didn't like the ad spot.

Yes, I've seen it...it's disgusting! I was just commenting to my SIL about it. It grosses me out every time it comes on!!!! I'm not buying Skittles...and I may just write them a letter telling them why!!!
On another, less repulsive, but disheartening none the less, topic... has anyone noticed that Hershey's has changed their chocolate? I've noticed it in KitKat and Kisses...it's gross and tastes like cheap Easter candy-chocolate...super sugary and not very rich...

Oh, I'm glad other people noticed this one too! I saw it once, last week, and I couldn't believe what I was seeing. It made my stomach turn over all over again when I tried to describe it to my husband.
Now, that being said, I think it's pretty funny too...I just can't believe someone thought of such a thing. I can't exactly say I hate it, although I know that it's in poor taste. Kind of like South Park... |

Sorry but I must know what is the Trojan commercial with the pigs? My mind is running wild and I am not to happy with where it is going!

| Well, I am so glad I am not the only one. Dh finally saw it last night and said "I have never wanted to eat skittles less in my life." Kind of seems contrary to the point of advertising. What bothered me was that the commercial was being shown on family channels, during childrens programming. I think it is a bit yucky and confusing. |

I think I am going to email Skittles and let them know that I hate their advertisments! Whatever happened to their fun fairy like advertisments?

I saw the Skittles commercial and thought it was gross but figured maybe kids (which is probably their audience) think it's so gross it's neat (wrong terms, I know, but you know what I mean). Well, my dd saw it the other night and said, "That's nasty". I asked my son what he thought of it and he said, "Great for dieters who are trying to stay away from Skittles."

I haven't seen it - maybe it won't air in Canada - but it sounds completely tasteless. There must be other ways to sell Skittles.. Too bad, I used to like eating Skittles too.

I got a generic email reply back. I wonder how many of these emails they are getting?
