husband finished my little project patio attached to the back of our house...(right behind the laundry room) and I love it...it isn't big or fancy, but a nice place to sit, spin, read or visit...pictures are at

Oh Jenny, Your new patio is so nice! Hubby did a great job! Are those little potted herbs? I love the tractor crossing sign too! It is a nice place to sit and do your thing! Thanks for sharing those!

Aunt Jenny!! How Cozy!! Love it... and love the wringer washer too! Suggestion... fill the space between the pavers with sand/soil mixture and plant some creeping thyme! And... sip some ice tea and enjoy for me!

Jenny -- how fun for you to have your own special outdoor place. You could also plant Corsican Mint between the pavers. It smells so nice when you walk on it.

Jenny - loved seeing all of your photos. What a great little patio! And did the parade go right down your street? Loved seeing the hills in the background. Very pretty!

Yep..that 4th of July went right down our street..it was so fun..happens each year..it goes down main street and turns and goes down our street and ends at the city park about a block and 1/2 down the street...loved it!!
Verbina...our house is over 100 years old but has been added to..the back part (laundry room) where the patio addition is was added in the 1940s..still cool things about it though..there are three chimneys...one from the kitchen, one from the family room..that we still use for a woodstove for heat in winter..and one in the laundry room...it is a big room and I am betting that room has been used for lots of things..right now i use it for sewing and stuff as well as laundry.
Got the wringer washer for $50 from a friend who didn't want it. I am not sure if it works..but I will be trying it out for washing my wool soon. I used a wringer washer for all my family's laundry for about 6 years and then my husband insisted finally that we get a "real" washer. I resisted it a long time..we were in the middle of a big move (here in fact) and I sold it to my sis in law and then regretted that! So now I have another..very much like the last one.

What a wonderful project and how nice to have it finished!
I also love the pie safe project! This is my kind of project. You have filled it with some really wonderful things. Did you find it at a yard sale?
The washer is a wonderful find too. When you use it to wash your wool how do you do this? I am assuming you are doing raw freshly sheered wool in preparation for carding and spinning.
I have looked for a wringer washer to prepare flax or rushes for chair seat rerushing but have not found one yet that still works.
Loved the 4th photos too.

when I use the wringer washer for wool I soak it in really warm water and then lift the wool out and drain the tub (perfect fertizer for the plants) Then fill the tub again with warm water and detergent and soak again..then lift out again and drain...down the drain this time..and then do a couple rinsing soaks..all the same temp water..and then run big handfuls through the wringer part and then on racks to dry in the sun...I love it!
The pie safe I found in our cellar under the barn on the first trip I made down there...it was sure fun!!

Jenny I love your porch. I see someone else already suggested creeping thyme which is my favorite thing to put between bricks and pavers. I too love the wringer. There is one for sale near me that I need to go see about buying.
The parade seemed awfully nice too. Just the right size. |

Great pictures, Jenny!
I love the parade. It reminds me of parades around here. This is a small rural town of about 1500 people and we have 3 parades a year. July 4th is the only one where there are NOT tractors and other farm equipment. My friend Jodi(city girl) could never figure out what tractors were doing in a parade.

I'm so happy to have found you too! I'm sitting here running through the chats and my heart is just soaring.
I'm not sure what to say about myself;
I'm a Mom of two wonderful boys, Sky 11 and Kobe 8. I'm also a "step" Mom of a 16 year old, Julien. That's been challenging.
My husband is a wonderful "can do" kind of man- very driven.
We are in the process of a re-model to accomidate our blended family. We've been married now three years.
This is the first time in my life that I have actually felt settled enough to find out who I am.
Little bits have come to me over the years; other than the obvious.
Like the love of plants- growing and planting and playing in the dirt. The love of animals... big and small.
I found MJ's book from Crafters Choice book club. I've been teaching myself to knit and quilt and sew and you name it...
I just want to create with my hands.
Also- I want connections with women!
I've moved all over all my life. I have not made friends. I hear stories of best friendships, the kind only women true to themselves and each other can have.
I know that there is a longing in my heart for that-

boy did you come to the right place to make bosom friends (sorry...anne of green gables moment) Alot of us knit and sew and quilt and love to talk about that and just about everything else. I love the names you chose for your kids. I only got to chose 2 of my 7 kids names since the other 5 are adopted...I got lucky..none with goofy names..but I would have loved to pick a few more. We let them pick (from an approved list..smile...) new middle names when the adoption becomes final and that helps.
Yes, I have been to visit my aunt but it has been a long time. She is actually a great aunt and as sweet as can be..just got remarried after a long hard life and quite awhile single.
I thought Walnut creek was so pretty then. I grew up in Arroyo Grande..and most of my family is still there...so not too far south of you.

Thank you for compliment regarding my boys names- their full names are William Robert Sky and Kobe Michael Rain. I guess you could say I just couldn't settle on two names.
What are your kids names?
I am really in awe over the five adoptions. How wonderful a gift to give a child and to bring into your own life as well.
Were some of them in the photos of the 4th of July?
How happy for your Aunt! Walnut Creek is a nice community, still. There's a bit too much "uppity" shopping and such to suit my tastes. But, Mt. Diablo makes up for it!
I know of Arroyo Grande, although I've never been there myself. Did you enjoy growing up there? What brought you to Utah?

My "homemade boys" are Corey Lee and Casey Dean , and then the other grown adopted one in college is Justin Randolf (we didn't change his middle name as he was older). The ones at home (yep the ones in the pictures on the 4th) are Summer Amelia, Travis Averill, Erin Cecile and Dalton Timothy. The middle names are each after someone important in our lives. Averill and Cecile were my beloved grandparents, Dean was my dad, Timothy is my husband's youngest brother and Amelia was a very very special friend to the family. The only one not named after anyone in particular (I was young when he was born) is oldest son...Lee is just what sounded good with his first name.
Yes, I loved growing up in AG. It has sure grown and grown though! We wanted to live in a smaller town. My husband has a brother who lives here and we came out here on vacation alot of years in a row before we decided to move her. I havn't ever regretted it for a moment!!! We have been here for 3 years. (almost exactly!!)
