Hey Frannie, Elizabeth, MaryBeth and Alee, I'm so glad you want to participate...I love sewing up "small projects" and the pinkeeps are just so relaxing and so much fun!! I am excited to see the what everyone is doing...Today is my 49th year young birthday!! I've had a nice dinner, cake with a candle on it and now I'm going to bed...RITFLOL

I'm usually up all night but I'm going to Chattanooga tomorrow for shopping so I need extra battery power for the day..:o))

Talk to ya later,
Stephanie

Thanks so much for the Birthday wishes...I really appreciate that

Well, here I am awake at 2am...hope I can get another nap before leaving for Chattanooga today...My sleep patterns are so strange these days....Menopause is such an "adventure"....LMAO!!!

I had tryed to get my photo submitted for the contest and it kept bouncing back...I finally got it through and it's showing up in the Contest Gallery now woohoo! I'm listed as Stephanie D.

http://www.maryjanesfarm.org/contest/gallery.html

So here is the pinkeep that I designed for the contest using a vintage strainer (2.5" diameter) as the base...

*I made a felted flower on my needlefelting machine
*then added some stands of roving for the wispies and another felted abstract piece and then
*and used french ombre ribbon for the center of the flower
*and then beaded around the center.
*Added silk and rayon handdyed ribbons...
*added another felted "do-dah" on the strainer handle....
*attached everything using silk ribbon pulled through to the back of the strainer, tied and then added MOP buttons.

Fun, Fun, Fun to make.....I think I'm addicted to pinkeeps now since I love doing detail work...

So I guess you can call this a piece of functional "altered art"

Peace, Stephanie

stephanie,
i love your pinkeeper and thanks for the close up pics. i wish we could have entered more than one pic cause some of the pincushions have more than one "angle" to them.
also when i entered i wanted to describe the pincushion and let the judges know details about it, but the instructions said: one picture with name and email address and i wasnt sure you could add details.
anyway your picture really shows off your pinkeeper and i love it!
i agree with you what i like about the pincushions is the handwork and the details. this contest was fun, maybe there will be other contest for our farmgalpals who are into aprons and knitting and etc, etc, etc,
anyway, have a great day out for your birthday and let us know how it went.

love

Thanks for the "thumbs up" on my pinkeeper I have another one in progress that is totally different...My imagination bounces from one extreme to another..LOL

I submitted one picture but I laid it out as a single image background with both views of the pinkeep so they could see the back side..

Anyway, they cropped out the back detail side so it would show up in the contest gallery...I knew when they sized it down it would become too small to see what it was but I accomplished getting them to see the other side since that really is as important as the frontside.

Went to Chattanooga...went to Michael's, AC Moores, Books a million and then to Chili's for dinner and then got home around 10pm tonight. We had a very enjoyable day, the weather was nice and the traffic wasn't bad...

Hope you will go on and make some pinkeeps now ..just post them whenever you get one finished...no deadlines....let's keep it going and at some point we can do a pinkeep swap....

I just love all you gals...you all of so nice to be around

Peace, Stephanie

OK, Stepanie I will post my one and only GREAT pin keeper here. The butterflies are needle keepers I made last winter when our power was off for ever so long (days and days). The little shoe is my first pin keeper but so fun I shall make more and maybe even some elegant ones. Oh impossible!! I am all thumbs. MB

Hey Mary Beth,

They are so cute I've got a toddler sized tennis shoe ready to alter into a pinkeep. It's gonna be adorable!

These pinkeeps are addictive, aren't they?

Hey Mary Beth, That one is too cute!! Did you use some sort of adhesive to keep the pinkeep in the little container?

Sherone yours are precious By the way, did you get my email? I had some trouble a while back in receiving email but I know you've been busy cleaning out your craft room too! Email me, OK?

Talk to ya later,

Stephanie, right now the material is just stuffed inside the froggie pot. It is ceramic and I am thinking I will use some kind of crafters glue. What do you use for pincushion filler? I got that material to make an apron but haven't yet. MB

That's funny Stephanie! I always try so hard to do those little things, but I get frustrated by the tiny pieces. Love them to death though. We will have to swap something big for something small one of these days!
