I know we have barely started Summer but I am putting my son in daycare in August and soon after, all kids will be returning to school. I want to start building up my immune system now. I am trying to eat more garlic, pepper and onions, taking honey to sooth and lubricate and drinking LOTS of water. What else could I do? Thanks.
Cheers, Heather |

Have any of you tried Airborne? Do you think it works? Oprah swears by it, but Dr. Dean Adell says it's all hooey. What do you think? |

I would suggest finding a good vitamin to take. If we keep our bodies properly nourished, we can have amazing immune systems. I think you have a good idea to start making sure you are where you need to be right now :)

I like airbourne. I substitute teach at the elementary school (which is SO fun!!)plus I have 4 kids at home...all in school.. and I figured it sure couldn't hurt (all natural) it does help. I wash my hands like crazy too. Those little cute kindergarteners can't keep their hands off you..haha

I am a teacher, also. I use airborne whenever I feel like I might be coming down with something-it seems to help, but you need to make sure you keep taking it until you really feel all better. Also-a few years back I was sick ALOT-I had pneumonia, and after that, I just caught everything that was around (I also had strep 3 times that year). Anyway, a PA told me to take zinc tablets-an extra 25-50mg/day. It seemed to help me not get sick so much. She said that the zinc lozenges are better for when you are already sick, but that the supplements were better for prevention. Hope this helps! Jennifer |

I would just like to add getting enough rest. We all go to bed early around here. The doctor told me that the sleep you actually get before midnight is the most beneficial. Lots of water. Lots of veggies and fruits. Susan |

PS: Through the years, when it's time for dinner, I have sliced oranges and apples up and served them with the meal. I found that my kids would eat it more readily at the table instead of any other time. They were getting extra vitamins and never realized it! Still do it to this day. I think that's all for now! Susan- We did that growing up- We always had a fruit and a veggie with the main meal. It really does help. I think a lot of the time, the prep time to eating a meal is the most off-putting to a kid. So if it is right there- ready to eat, they are more likely to dig in!

I am making iced tea with green tea a lot. My granfather was pushing green tea on me over 20 years ago and I have loved it. My kids drink green tea, red tea, etc. and always have. Getting sleep, exercise, being outside A LOT will all help.
I also use Airborne since I am a teacher. I only take it when I am starting to feel run down and take it for a few days and that seems to be enough to give me that little boost of vitamins to keep me healthy. |
