I hope you get some more sun soon! I am sure you are sick to death of all this rain!

We are getting mixed information - some sites show rain through the next 10 days, but others say mostly sun with an occasional shower...usually in the afternoons.

I'm going to the farm tomorrow for sure either way to work on the fencing for my goats.

P.S. Just a note of advice - folks here are sayng that if you have goats or sheep that you might want to drylot and worm them since the never-ending rain is making the parasite population soar. There have been cases of goats dying suddenly for no apparent reason and it's been traced back to these parasites.

Yikes Erin! I hope your goats don't get sick! I know that some goats don't handle getting wet very well. I hope you farm isn't too damaged by all this. I know you said you were concerned about the roads.

Yay! We had an almost-rain-free day today! I got my goat pen laid out with string and got one side's worth of posts up. Tomorrow I'll finish the posts and if there's time, put up the fence! We also took the stray pup with us to give her a day out. She ended up staying in the trailer most of the day hiding from the heat... But she enjoyed chasing butterflies and grasshoppers.

erin,
so glad you finally got a rain free day!it does make a difference, doesnt it.
even though i am a big time homebody, there is a difference between choosing to not get out of the house, and not getting out because of the weather. ...and then theres all that soft earth and mud.
this whole experience has made me have even more admiration for our farmgirl sisters who live up north where they have winters that keep them indoors for long periods of time.
i love my little cabin in the woods, but i like to get out of it if i want to.
we have had about 3-4 sunny days now and the ground is not near as smoochy as it was before. it has been interesting watchin all my critters,(cats, dogs, goats and chickens ) respond to the weather and water. the goats do not like wet damp ground, the chickens seem oblivious and the little cats headed outdoors the first sunny day we had.....only to be caught in a downpour a couple of hours later. i had to go out in it and rescue all the kittens and dry them off.
stay dry!....and pray for clear skies.

love

Well, we didn't get back to the farm today as we slept way past our wake up time. All that sun and work must have tuckered us out more than we thought.

Anyhow, we used the day to do some errands and to try to get the new puppy integrated into the family. Tomorrow morning we go pick up the feral kittens at the garage. Then if there is time, we'll take the pup and go back to the farm.

Might be Tuesday though before we get back down.

Yippee - the weatherman just said that while we have showers forecasted every day up until next Sunday, we probably won't have any real rain again until Tuesday night.

checking in from north texas.
well, i feel like we are doing better in our neck of the woods. we continue to have rain, but also enough sun to stop getting so bogged down with all this, in spirit and physically.
we were able today to let the goats out of the main pen to free range on the farm and they seem to be happy about it too.
we continue to have the chance for scattered showers over the next week, but it does feel today as if we have turned the corner on the monsoons.

We've had almost a week of sunshine, with only the occasional rain here. Just to get some perspective, Frannie is, at most, an hour from where I am... She has sunshine, I get rain. I get sunshine, she has rain. This week looks good for us.

I am so glad for you Texas gals, you need a break. Hey I did leave in the "Seattle" area. You get use to the rain if you live there most of your life. It is just normal, but if you have lived in a sunny place and then move there, it is quite an adjustment. I live in Eastern Washington for the last 8 years. It is a change but I do great. The only thing I really miss is going to the beach regularly. Love the beach.
You gals hang in there.
Carol Sue

Enjoying the moments.
