You, too, Denise! It's a perfect weather day here in KY - sunny and on the cool side. And my friend Carolyn and I are going 'thrifting' at lunch!

And happy First day of Summer to you gals! We went to a butterfly farm after lunch today, and then way up the side of a mountain to the top for an incredible panoramic view of small villages and towns, vineyards, and the Mediterranean Sea. That body of water is the most incredible vibrant blue; so different than the Atlantic which is often more green toned. The butterfly "farm" is like a huge greenhouse (very hot!!) with all the sorts of plants they need for food and laying their eggs. Saw some beauties flitting around. And they have a big screened box with row after row of the chrysalises hanging from strips of wood, where the caterpillars had spun them, just waiting for the right time to hatch into their adult forms! We saw one that had JUST freed itself from the chrysalis sac and it was hanging there to dry it's wings, which they have to do before they are light enough to be airborne. Andre and I were speaking in English and a woman walked up and said "What part of America are you from?", in that beautiful lilting Irish brogue. I said "Gee what makes you think I'm from the US?" She laughed and said "I'm psychic". CERTAINLY couldn't have been my southern drawl, huh? She is Irish, and she, a friend, her daughter and her daughter's boyfriend were on vacation. The daughter was born in Georgia but now lives in Idaho, and here they all were in France. Small world, more and more. I was telling her how we met and that when I turned 50 two years ago I took early retirement to enable us to live in both our homes. She said "Well, you're looking damn good, life must be agreeing with you". HA! What a nice stranger and I could have listened to her read cereal ingredients all afternoon! LOVE that accent! Anyway, hope everybody gets to pull a weed, feel a breeze, and smell a flower today! Nance |

Happy first day of Summer, all! Here, it is an absolutely beautiful day...the temperature is around the low 80's and dry. I went out at lunchtime for a walk and it was hard to come back! This is the longest day of the year, so spend the extra daylight wisely. lol |

Nance-
I know what you mean- Irish and English accents always get me! I even had a dream the other night where everyone had a northern English accent!

Alyssa, you are ahead of me! I wouldn't know the difference between northern English accents and their southern counterparts, just love how classy they sound! And I love the Irish accent and envy their soil! A friend of mine moved to Ireland and says that the soil is full of rocks, but you can virtually throw seeds on the soil and they spring to life! Anyway, give Nora a hug for me! Nance |
