A rescue horse!!! Hopefully we'll have him by the first of next week. He is, they think, about 12 years old, a gelding, and part quarter horse, part Arabian. He is so beautiful, he was neglected, not abused, so no behavioral problems that we know of. This is my dream come true, I have wanted a horse so bad, all of my 26 years on this earth, finally hubby has agreed to let me fulfill it!
I couldn't be happier right now, but trying to settle myself down as we still have three more things to do before he's ours. We have to travel about an hour away to visit him, make sure he's what we want, travel back home, travel another 2 hours away to sign his paperwork and pay for him, then travel back the other hour to pick him up. I just know it's going to be so hard for me to leave him there after I see him the first time, I already love him, but after being with him I know the bond will be even stronger.
Just had to share my excitement here with some gals that I knew would understand! |

I don't know your level of experience, so I hope you'll forgive me when I tell you to get some lessons, too. There are so many things that can go wrong with even the nicest horses, and having a resource that can see your problem and help you fix it is invaluable.
Horses are cheap right now, but the cost of inputs (hay, farrier, bedding, vetting) is climbing fast. The more you know, the more you can save, and the more satisfaction you can have with your choice.
Again, I don't know if this is your first horse, or one of many. I hope I haven't offended you. But I've seen so many newbies get in way over their heads, and rather than find a pathway to fixing the problem, they just sell the horse and quit. I'd love to see you enjoy your horse as much as I do mine.

Congratulations! You have a big heart, to adopt him :-D (I know, I have eight adoptees...not horses but dogs, lol!)
But I wish you lots of luck and yes, please do keep everyone updated and share pictures when you can!

Congrats on the new guy but do be careful. I'm not sure if this is a first horse or not but please find someone who is a real horseman/woman that you can get help from. Sometimes a 'cheap' horse is WAY more expensive in the long run than finding a good fit for yourself in the first place, which usually means more money!
